This is a permanent, non-tenure-eligible, 9-month appointment with full University benefits, including retirement and health insurance. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, and candidates must hold a PhD by that time.</p> <p>We seek an individual with a demonstrated record of teaching and mentoring excellence who can offer introductory archaeology courses as well as upper division regional and/or topical courses. The ideal candidate will also have fieldwork experience in western North America and experience working with cultural resource management (CRM) firms and/or federal or state agencies.</p> <p>As Director of the UUAC, the successful candidate will:</p> <ul> <li>Mentor and supervise students (both undergraduate and graduate); </li><li>Lead weekly UUAC meetings; </li><li>Oversee UUAC facilities, resources, and operations; and </li><li>Manage the Center's approximately $20,000 annual budget, which supports student employment and research initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Because this position includes significant responsibilities beyond classroom instruction, the teaching load is reduced from the standard career-line requirement to four courses per academic year (two per semester).</p> <p>The successful candidate will be an active member of the Department of Anthropology and will be expected to participate in faculty meetings, serve on student committees, and contribute to the broader intellectual and service life of the department.</p> <p>The Department of Anthropology at U of U</p> <p>Anthropology at the U of U is the comparative, evolutionary and historical study of human and non-human primates.
