Then Mid Atlantic Retina is the company for you!</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Clinical Manager leads all Ophthalmic Technicians and co-manages the Front Desk staff in their assigned location. This is a "hand-on" position that assists where needed. Leadership, communication and clinical skills will be challenged and appreciated.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for all aspects of Ophthalmic Technician and first line supervision of Front Desk operations in a fast paced retina specialty ophthalmic clinic, covering for staff as needed. </li><li>Develops and implements clinical and front desk schedules to ensure proper follow through and flow of patients. Works with sister clinics to share resources and staff as needed. </li><li>Directs the duties, priorities, and necessities of various routines to be carried out on a daily basis by all technical personnel, therefore assuring a proper, efficient flow of patients. </li><li>Responsible for development and implementation of a cross training program for all ophthalmic technician staff to achieve broad skill sets and provide coverage as needed in multiple clinical areas. </li><li>Ability to complete medical and ophthalmic history, visions, scribing, OCTs, laser preparations, injection preparations, fundus and fluorescein photography, equipment maintenance and repair, entering and receiving computer data. </li><li>Recruits new ophthalmic technicians and conducts training for those employees to perform the various skills associated with the practice, including but not limited to completing medical and ophthalmic history, visions, scribing, OCTs, laser preparations, injections, equipment maintenance and repair, entering and receiving computer data. </li><li>Ensures that clinical equipment is maintained in adequate working order and schedules maintenance as needed. Ensures operating procedures, policies, and safety protocols are followed by clinical and front desk personnel. </li><li>Ability to monitor, or assess performances of staff and provide disciplinary action as needed. </li><li>Regular and predictable on-site attendance required, with the ability to travel to other offices as needed. </li></ul> <p>Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Leadership - Inspires team members to improve, stretch and do more for the good of the team. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibility</p> <p>This position is responsible to supervisor Ophthalmic Technicians and has a shared supervisory responsibility to oversee front desk staff.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This job operates in a professional medical office environment. This role routinely uses both clinical diagnostic equipment including lasers as well as standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.</p> <ul> <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, communicate verbally in front of groups, one to one and over the telephone and in email. </li><li>This position is very active and requires standing and walking all day. </li><li>Occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. </li><li>Lift or move objects weighing over 20 pounds. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. </li><li>Using hands to operate equipment, show manual or finger dexterity, handle things with precision or speed, use muscular coordination and physical stamina. </li><li>Use senses to observe and examine patients, paying attention to detail/ Working with data and numbers, calculating and manipulating numbers, processing data on a computer, attending to details, classifying, recording, storing or retrieving information. </li><li>Following through on plans or instructions. </li><li>Using words to communicate ideas, reading with comprehension, writing reports or other documentation, teaching or training patients. </li><li>Sustain physical contact with another person in order to guide them due to diminished vision. </li></ul> <p>Position Type/Expected Hours of Work</p> <p>Full Time / This is a 40 hour per week position or until the assigned duties are complete.</p> <p>Travel</p> <p>Travel is required for this position.</p> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED equivalent </li><li>1 year of leadership or management experience </li><li>1 year Ophthalmic experience, retina preferred </li></ul> <p>EEO Statement</p> <p>MAR is a proud Equal Opportunity Employer.</p>
