<p>Lemur Conservation Foundation</p> <p>Lemur Keeper</p> <p>Lemur Conservation Foundation</p> <p>The Lemur Conservation Foundation is an AZA related facility that houses 50+ lemurs on 130 acres in Myakka City Florida. LCF is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the primates of Madagascar through managed breeding, scientific research, education, and art.</p> <p>Lemur Keeper</p> <p>The lemur keeper performs routine husbandry tasks to provide for the daily feeding, cleaning and medical care of the collection animals including medicating, training, and enriching the facility's lemur population. The keeper maintains cleanliness and condition of animal enclosures in addition to modifying and installing new species-appropriate features in exhibits. The lemur keeper is responsible for assisting with routine and emergency medical treatment for lemurs including physical exams, administration of medications and contraceptives, fecal collection, monitoring of reproductive cycles, weighing animals, and capture and restraint.</p> <p>The lemur keeper must observe, report, and record signs of illness and/or behavioral concerns through observation of physical condition and behavior of the lemur collection.</p> <p>The lemur keeper prepares and distributes nutritionally appropriate and balanced diets and maintains cleanliness of animal quarters and assigned areas. The ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.</p> <p>The lemur keeper will be responsible for regularly training animals using operant conditioning and positive reinforcement and providing enrichment in accordance with the expectations of the LCF behavioral management program.</p> <p>The selected candidate must be able to communicate in a professional manner with a variety of personalities to foster a positive and productive work atmosphere, as well as thrive in a team environment.
