Principal or Supervisor of Special Education Certification highly preferred. # Melmark Overview Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders. # Director of Educational Services Overview # The Director of Educational Services is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Educational Services with the development and implementation of the Melmark PA#s Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including their development, implementation and progress monitoring. Utilizes the Melmark Enterprise Data System (MEDS) to develop and measure baseline data and lessons according to the IEP development timeline. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including assessment, curriculum development, and ensuring compliance with licensing and certification requirements. The Director of Educational Services is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all applicable licenses, certifications, and accreditations, including Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and other relevant state Department of Education (such as IL, NY, DE, NJ, CA, etc). They must have senior level clinical and educational skills, supervision and training skills, and the ability to attend to numerous details and understand multiple regulatory standards. This position requires flexible hours during the school year. Principal or Supervisor of Special Education Certification highly preferred. A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years teaching and supervising experience in a public or approved private school/special education setting. Knowledge of regulatory standards promulgated by Pennsylvania Department of Education (PA Code Title 22, Chapter 14), Pennsylvania Approved Private Schools (PA Code Title 22, Chapters 51 and 59. Knowledge of federal standards for educational rights (IDEA). Strong background in educational services and curricula, with emphasis on special education and the special needs and requirements of individuals with acquired brain injury, intellectual/ developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. Experience in the principles and application of Applied Behavior Analysis within an educational setting, as well as evidence-based instructional strategies for all learners. # Director of Educational Services Responsibilities Ensures consistent implementation of all EnvisionSmart# systems as designed (Clinical, Academic, MEDS, Regulatory, Fiscal, Staff Training and Supervision, Corrective Action). Assures compliance with all PDE and regulatory/licensing agencies and cooperates with officials of such agencies during applicable survey processes. Responds to all requests for information from PDE, including upkeep and maintenance of the school license as an Approved Private School. Stay updated with changes from PDE and other regulatory/licensures (i.e. Basic Education Circulars, ect.) and promptly communicate relevant updates to the team. Along with the Director of School Services, works to achieve strategic plan goals for the school. Ensures employees are familiar with and act in compliance with all federal and state regulations, Melmark Policies and Procedures, and Melmark models of service delivery.# Provides oversight of the IEP planning process, ensuring that high quality and thorough documents are prepared in a timely manner, including meeting notifications, annual IEP meetings, and quarterly progress reports. Manages discharge and transition planning per regulations and protocols. Ensures the quality of all IEP documents reflect the unique needs of each individual and meet all regulatory/licensing requirements for both content and timeframes. Collaborates with Senior Director of Clinical Services and Directo(s) of School Services to ensure that behavior support programs demonstrate least restrictive strategies, emphasize proactive skill development, functional communication training, matching strategies according to functional assessment and address positive behavior support variables (family involvement, interdisciplinary team, functional skill development, least restrictive), and regulatory compliance. Collaborates with Senior Director of Clinical Services and Director(s) of School services to ensure team members are following the bi-weekly student review process, including preparation and review recommendations occurring in a timely manner and decisions made based on data and analysis. Ensures Administrative Assistant completes the biweekly review schedule timely, shares with appropriate team members, and communicates any changes. Conducts ongoing assessment of student progress levels and prepares monthly and quarterly metrics for Senior Leadership team Initiates Melmark#s new admission baseline protocol with the team and ensures the process is followed, including record reviews, environmental arrangements, functional assessments, designing initial programs based on data and assessments. Supervises the Adaptive Physical Education instructor. Ensures integration and collaboration of the instructor within the school services and in support of all departmental goals and priorities. Supervises the Administrative Assistant position within the school.# With their support, ensures timely and accurate communication to families and school districts regarding any departmental news, needs or required communications (restraint reporting, PDE calendar, etc.). Ensures IEP invites, mailing, filing, and recording of compliance occurs timely. Supervises the Curriculum Coordinators and Vocational Coordinator within the school. Ensure they utilize evidence-based instructional methods that align with state standards and curriculum frameworks to support the creation of effective goals and teaching plans, ensuring maximum engagement and progress. Ensure timely completion of alternate assessments (e.g. PASA). Maintains the Assessment and Curriculum inventory and provides training on use to drive student progress. Responsive to staff calls for assistance and assists coworkers as needed throughout the building. Is present and available in classroom setting when a new student is admitted, when new staff are in the classroom, and during student emergency management procedures.
