With an environment that encourages and assists each person in developing to their highest potential, a career at A-dec is incredibly rewarding.</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>This position performs dimensional and visual inspection on incoming parts received from suppliers and those manufactured on site to prevent processing of nonconforming parts into inventory or production. Also determines the best way to inspect parts, ensuring consistency with supplier processes.</p> <p>JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Confirms that dimensions, finish type, and finish appearance of parts meet specifications on A-dec drawings and are within quality standards. </li><li>Interacts with CAD models and Engineering drawings, utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), to perform the intended inspection. </li><li>Develops and maintains Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs to ensure parts are meeting A-dec dimensional requirements </li><li>Performs inspection sampling and makes acceptance/rejection decisions per guidelines, maintains thorough and detailed records of all inspection history in an electronic history database, and communicates reject or quality problems to Buyers or manufacturing staff in accordance with established procedures. </li><li>Responsible for the proper care and storage of precision measuring tools and equipment and submits tool requirements to the testing and calibration department for repairs and quarterly calibration. </li><li>Operates and maintains precision machinery such as Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and digital optical comparators. </li><li>Performs all first article inspections (F.A.I.R.S.), Pfairs, CpK's and the like, to evaluate suppliers' dimensional accuracy on initial runs, including molds and dies produced both in house and externally. </li><li>Acts as a resource on A-dec quality standards and serves as a company expert on inspection information for all parts received, both internally and externally. </li><li>Evaluates measuring requirements and designs inspection fixtures/gauges when necessary or beneficial. </li><li>Performs some material handling duties, may be required to assist others with inspection procedures and techniques </li><li>Observes and practices all safety guidelines and maintains an acceptable dependability level. Also participates in continuous improvement activities. </li><li>Provides continuous development training on topics related to inspection and precision measuring equipment to all team members. </li><li>Serves as a resource to team members, provides technical support to all team members. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Strong oral and written communication skills are required. </li><li>Demonstrated leadership skills, formal or informal, and ability to effectively communicate work information and provide training to other. </li><li>Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and to design effective inspection fixtures and gauges. </li><li>Understanding of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry is required. </li><li>Must have the ability to obtain a competent level of knowledge of A-dec products, part locations on assemblies and appearance areas. </li><li>Must obtain qualification to operate the necessary material handling vehicles within three to six months. </li><li>Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) </li><li>Working knowledge of computer programs to develop, maintain and interpret CMM part programs and outputs. </li><li>Knowledge of AX, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint preferred. </li><li>Basic understanding of product function, part-to-print relationships, and knowledge of product flow through A-dec is preferred </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Generally requires 5 years of parts inspection, quality control inspection, and/or other relevant experience with expertise in the use of precision measuring tools along with the ability to improvise tool set-ups. </li><li>Experience with CAD programs preferred. </li><li>Experience with 3d printing fixtures preferred. </li></ul> <p>Disclaimer</p> <p>This job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
