<p>The Public Schools of Brookline is seeking a full-time music teacher to join our dynamic Conservatory program, serving students in grades 4-8 across multiple schools. We're looking for a passionate and creative educator who can inspire a love of music and help students cultivate their talents. This role is perfect for a collaborative, dedicated and skilled teacher who thrives on providing high-quality, enriching experiences for students of all backgrounds and abilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment and nurturing a lifelong passion for music in our students.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Instruction: Teach a variety of instrumental and general music classes, including:</p> </li><li> <p>4th wind, brass, and percussion classes.</p> </li><li> <p>5th grade band.</p> </li><li> <p>6th-8th grade mixed-grade band classes.</p> </li><li> <p>Possibly teach one or more 6th-8th grade Conservatory electives, such as Music Production, Guitar/Ukulele Ensemble, or Music Exploration.</p> </li><li> <p>Curriculum & Classroom Management:</p> </li><li> <p>Adapt and follow a curriculum that aligns with state standards while meeting the diverse needs of students.</p> </li><li> <p>Differentiate instruction to support all learners.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain safe and organized classroom spaces, including setting up and breaking down equipment for instrumental classes.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaboration:</p> </li><li> <p>Work effectively with colleagues in the Performing Arts Department and the broader school community.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend department meetings and participate in school-wide activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.</p> </li></ul> <p>What We're Looking For</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience teaching and/or performing instrumental music, specifically with wind, brass, and/or percussion instruments.</p> </li><li> <p>The ability to differentiate instruction and use various assessment methods.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.</p> </li><li> <p>A commitment to creating an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.</p> </li><li> <p>A collaborative spirit and a growth mindset, with the ability to reflect on your practice and accept feedback.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to travel between multiple school buildings throughout the day.</p> </li><li> <p>Massachusetts DESE Music Teacher certification.</p> </li><li> <p>A Bachelor's degree.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>A Master's degree.</p> </li><li> <p>Interest in directing a town-wide band (an additional stipend is available for this role).</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional notes</p> <ul> <li>If you have additional instrument experience, such as on string instruments and/or orchestra, that is welcome. </li><li>This position requires traveling daily between multiple schools within the Public Schools of Brookline.
