Commensurate with the education outlined in the current collective bargaining contract salary schedule.</p> <p>Employee category: Full-Time Faculty- 182 days</p> <p>Department: Psychology</p> <p>Reports to: Dean of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences</p> <p>FLSA status: Exempt</p> <p>Job Code: AA088182INS</p> <p>Location: Primarily CEHWC (Downtown KCK) and Main Campus, but any other college location as assigned by the appropriate administrator</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently seeking a full-time faculty member to provide high-quality, learner-centered instruction to students enrolled in psychology-related coursework at any KCKCC location, while supporting the institution's mission, vision, and strategic plan.</p> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION</p> <ul> <li>Organize and teach psychology classes as assigned by the division dean at the downtown campus, main campus, PCC, and high school locations, delivering quality education and training. </li><li>Conduct all class sessions according to schedule. </li><li>Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover all student learning objectives for the specific course(s) taught. </li><li>Use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation, and collaboration. Engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills. </li><li>Organize and explain content using methods that are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences. </li><li>Attend all KCKCC required training and meetings. </li><li>Assign and provide feedback for in and out-of-class work, monitor student progress and maintain accurate record of students' performances. </li><li>Submit mid-term and final grades. </li><li>Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements. </li><li>Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy. </li><li>Exhibit professionalism with faculty, administration, staff, students, and constituents. </li><li>Ensure timely, accurate, and complete submission of all reports to appropriate office(s). </li><li>Maintain accurate records of students' attendance. </li><li>Prepare course syllabi addressing targeted student abilities, specific competencies, textbook requirements, grading/assessment methodology, course scheduling, and/or other items as required </li><li>Provide regular, timely reports to students of academic performance, including current grades in course(s) taught </li><li>Successfully complete important assessment work. </li><li>Utilize student-centered teaching strategies. </li><li>Demonstrate commitment to the program, division, and total institution by timely attendance and submission of required grade, attendance, or other miscellaneous reports to the administration. </li><li>Other related duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Complete knowledge and understanding of the discipline of psychology. </li><li>A thorough understanding of the vocabulary used in the field of psychology. </li><li>Ability to arrive on time and be ready to teach course(s) during scheduled times. </li><li>Ability to prepare curricular materials to convey learning objectives to students. </li><li>Ability to effectively utilize Blackboard for posting assignments, assessing students, performances, and grading. </li><li>Demonstrated rapport with students having a record of academic challenges to motivate them toward success. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Master's or higher degree in Psychology or a Master's degree in a related field with eighteen (18) credit hours of graduate Psychology coursework. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Four (4) years of teaching experience in an open-enrollment, urban community college. </li><li>Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard. </li><li>Experience in learner-centered pedagogy. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <p>In performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. Occasionally, the employee may need to push or lift items.
