This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting and actively resolving systems service requests by installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all computer hardware and network equipment to ensure optimal systems performance. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostics and help request tracking tools. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by phone, via e-mail or remotely) in a timely and accurate manner and provide end-user assistance where required. The senior system administrator is to be a subject matter expert on a wide array of infrastructure platforms and will be considered the primary owner of those platforms.</p> <p>This person also provides planning, design, and deployment of new infrastructure architecture following best practices on a project basis as required. This person will also provide mentoring and guidance to other Systems Administrators as needed.</p> <p>This person will also be expected to work with other team members as part of a continual growth mindset.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot servers, storage and other infrastructure hardware </li><li>Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis and resolution of complex problems for end-users or infrastructure systems and recommend/implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair for remote users as needed </li><li>Perform hands-on fixes at the datacenter level, including installing, upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups and configuring systems and applications </li><li>Manage service requests from end-users as necessary </li><li>Act as an escalation point for end-user issues from the Desktop Support team as applicable </li><li>Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by Telamon </li><li>Accurately document instances of equipment or component failure, repair, installation and removal </li><li>Access software updates, drives, knowledge bases and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution </li><li>Perform preventative systems maintenance, for servers, workstations, printers and network peripherals </li><li>Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems </li><li>Perform server administration duties such as account and resource administration, data backup, and other essential administrative functions </li><li>Plan, design, and deploy high performance infrastructure to support company needs </li><li>Monitor infrastructure for security related problem and address regularly </li><li>Design, develop, and maintain backup and DR systems to ensure data loss risk is within acceptable recovery point and time objectives </li><li>Monitor overall infrastructure performance including Windows servers, Linux servers, ESXi servers, routers, firewalls, switches, access points, and circuits </li><li>Immediately address any outages in the most efficient manner possible followed by a root cause analysis and design to prevent such a failure in the future </li><li>Availability on a 24x7x365 basis in the event of a critical outage </li></ul> <p>Managerial Responsibility</p> <ul> <li>This position does not have direct reports. </li></ul> <p>Travel/Shift Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Some travel may be required based on deployment needs, less than 10%. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>The position will require racking and configuring infrastructure hardware which may require using tools and lifting equipment in excess of 20 pounds. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities Required</p> <ul> <li>Experience with LAN/WAN environment </li><li>Experience with enterprise server and storage hardware and management </li><li>Experience with virtualization technologies such as Citrix, VMWare, Hyper-V, and cloud </li><li>Experience with backup software such as Commvault and Veeam </li><li>Experience with Disaster Recovery planning, implementation and testing </li><li>Extensive application support experience with Windows </li><li>Advanced technical knowledge of current software protocols and Internet standards, including TCP/IP, sub netting, DNS, DHCP </li><li>Extensive application support experience with the full Microsoft production suite </li><li>Knowledge of the Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment </li><li>Excellent technical knowledge of infrastructure hardware </li><li>Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws </li><li>Exceptional written and oral communication skills; interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport building, listening and questioning skills; analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail </li><li>Ability to present ideas/solutions in user-friendly language; ability to absorb and retain information quickly; ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required; ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation and OEM guides. </li><li>Self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment </li><li>Proficiency in supporting all IT platforms. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience Required</p> <ul> <li>Associates degree in a related field, such as computer science, information technology, electronics engineering or computer engineering from an accredited College or minimally 3 or more years of related experience and/or professional training with industry-standard certification(s) </li></ul> <p>List of Applicable Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>CompTIA Certifications (A+, Network +, Server +) </li><li>Microsoft Certifications (MCTS, MCP, MCITP, MCDST, MCSA, MCSE) </li><li>Citrix Certifications (CCA, CCAA, CCEA, CCEE, CCIA) </li><li>Cisco Certifications (CCENT, CCNA, CCNP) </li><li>Certifications in Storage Area Network </li><li>VMware Certified Professional. </li></ul> <p>Telamon Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment.
