<p>Position Summary: Advises Lead and Manager of daily work unit activities. Provides functional direction and guidance to associates. Prepares and provides clear and concise information for shift reports. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Reports any equipment problems to Management. Works directly with the Lead Tech and Manager to achieve the goals of the department and provide quality service. Takes the initiative and responsibility to resolve problems. Maintains a strong working relationship with surgery to provide quality service in a timely manner. Assures proper decontamination, disinfection, preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instrumentation, equipment and medical supplies. Assures that materials and supplies are maintained at adequate levels to provide uninterrupted service. Performs washer/decontaminator, ultrasonic, plasma, low heat and sterilizer equipment testing. Assures all departmental records are accurately maintained. Performs IFU research. Follows vendor tray process for receiving and returns Loaners. Assist with Durable Medical Equipment. Provides clear and concise communication when responding to phone request. Maintains quality standards by adhering to local, regional, infection control and regulatory agencies (TITLE 22 requirements, ANSI/AAME and AORN standards). May perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications [Required]: High school diploma or equivalent. #Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST). Certified Instrument Technician (CIS) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire/position/status date. Ability to life and carry 25 pounds; capable of pushing and pulling carts; must tolerate prolonged standing. Five (5) years experience in Sterile Processing working in Surgery. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Familiarity with training and education of associates and new hires. Previous experience in departmental workflow based on surgical procedures; experienced in analyzing and determining instrumentation to be utilized based on surgical case request. Must possess strong working knowledge of surgical instruments for all surgical services; advanced knowledge in Surgical Specialty instrumentation (Robotics, Laparoscopic, Reposable). Knowledgeable of basic anatomy, physiology and microbiology. Basic experience working with general instrumentation, house wide kits and trays and surgical trays. Familiar with vendor tray process. Experienced with Durable Medical Equipment. Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills, e.g., phone etiquette. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and be computer literate. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to effectively multitask, organize and establish priorities. Must possess working knowledge of HIVAC, Gravity displacement sterilzers, Scope Re-processors, Ultrasonic, Washer Decontaminators and similar processing equipment. Knowledge and understanding ANSIA/AAMI, AORN and title 22 standards.
