This position involves developing and implementing internal and external communications strategies to foster current students' interest in remaining involved at Normandale following graduation or transfer, and to promote alumni involvement in and contributions to the college's activities, events, and initiatives. Alumni engagement is a critical strategic component in helping the college improve diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as practiced through non-academic volunteer activities that support college programs. It's also a pathway to growing the Foundation's donor base, increasing its impact on college initiatives that foster student success.</p> <p>Key responsibilities include developing and managing an alumni program that uses targeted messaging to current students and alumni, informing them of opportunities to get involved at Normandale and strengthening their connection to the college. This position collaborates with college departments, student clubs, the Foundation, and external partners to publicize ways to get involved on campus, and to implement alumni activities, including events. The Alumni Engagement Specialist maintains a current database of alumni, tracks their engagement, and adjusts strategy for continuous improvement.</p> <p>YOUR QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Essential:</p> <ul> <li>Two years of experience in communicating with volunteers and engaging them in activities, events, and initiatives that support organizational goals, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A master's degree may substitute for 18 months of experience, a bachelor's degree may substitute for 12 months of experience, and an associate's degree for 6 months. The degree needs to be in a related field. </li></ul> <p>Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities that will be interviewed for include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strategic communication and marketing</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent oral and written communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with others collaboratively</p> </li><li> <p>Uses creativity, is resourceful, and takes thoughtful risks</p> </li><li> <p>Self-starter and a problem solver</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in project management, is thorough, and has strong organizational skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work in and support a culture of diversity and inclusion</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's or Master's Degree in communications, marketing, community relations, public relations, development, non-profit management, business or related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous experience in alumni relations, event planning, volunteer management, or community engagement, preferably in the public and/or non-profit sectors.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in higher education settings, preferably community colleges.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to think strategically and analytically, especially in high-pressure situations.</p> </li><li> <p>High emotional intelligence and tolerance for ambiguity.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in using social media channels and newsletter platforms such as Constant Contact to communicate with target audiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in using Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Suite, data management tools, and other relevant software.</p> </li></ul> <p>WHY NORMANDALE</p> <p>Normandale is the largest community college in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, annually serving almost 15,000 students from a diverse set of backgrounds, 42% of whom are students of color and nearly 25% are first-generation.
