<p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the administration of recruitment, benefits and leave management for assigned departments, and the consistent application of County policies and practices. This role serves as a key resource to employees and leadership, ensuring high-quality HR services and regulatory compliance.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage the recruitment process from job posting through onboarding, ensuring a positive candidate and new hire experience. Responsibilities include supporting managers with job postings, scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, conducting background checks, coordinating office skills testing, pre-employment physicals, collecting required documentation, and conducting New Hire Orientation. Represent McHenry County at job fairs and community outreach events </li><li>HR Point of Contact: Serve as the first point of contact for the Human Resources Department, providing professional and responsive customer service to County Board members, managers, and employees at the HR Counter, via telephone, and email. Respond to phone and email inquiries within 24 hours. </li><li>HR Program Administration: Perform routine tasks related to the administration and execution of HR programs, including IMRF, benefit enrollments, terminations, FMLA, and document management. Responsibilities include setting up electronic personnel files and supporting documentation. Identify challenges or issues and provide timely feedback to the Assistant Director and/or Director. </li><li>Benefits and Payroll Coordination: Track missed benefit payments using applicable reports, prepare payroll adjustments within the HRIS system, and draft invoices for missed insurance premiums for review by the Assistant Director. Consult with employees prior to a scheduled unpaid leave of absence to coordinate prepayment of benefit premiums. </li><li>Retirement Administration: Advise employees on navigating the IMRF website and applying for pension benefits. Review retiree insurance costs and coverage options and provide required documentation for retiree insurance and the NCPERS life insurance enrollment. </li><li>Policy Guidance and Employee Support: Advise employees and managers on the interpretation and application of County Human Resources policies. Serve as a neutral, approachable HR resource. </li><li>Committee Participation: Represent the Human Resources Department by serving on committees, including but not limited to the safety and AI committees. </li><li>Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree (preferred) </li><li>Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Human Resources Generalist </li></ul> <p>Licenses and Certifications:</p> <p>Valid Driver's License</p> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <ul> <li>Four Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plans, 2 Delta Dental plans, and 2 vision plans to choose from. </li><li>Pension: Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). </li><li>Nationwide Retirement Solutions (457b and Roth457) plans. </li><li>Employer paid Life and AD&D insurance policy with the option to buy up additional coverage for employees and dependents. </li><li>Tuition Reimbursement and Student Loan Repayment Programs. </li><li>Paid vacation, sick, personal days and 13 paid holidays. </li><li>Free Employee Assistance Program for employees and their family members. </li><li>Access to the McHenry County Employee Wellness Program. </li></ul> <p>Must be able to successfully pass a background screening.</p> <p>McHenry County is an equal opportunity employer.
