<p>Licensed as an athletic trainer by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professions Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer (ATC credential) CPR/AED Certified Bachelor's Degree Required Previous experience as a certified athletic trainer preferred Experience with rehabilitation is a plus. Ability to work with a variety of age groups, teachers, parents, nurses, guidance and other area medical professionals.</p> <p>Provide primary athletic training medical coverage for one or more sports at a time including practices and games. Travel only required for varsity football and selected tournament games as needed. Maintain and supervise the athletic training room. Maintain records of injury management. Provide direction and communication to parents when a student is injured. ? Evaluate readiness; assess injuries and conditions of student-athletes. ? Refer parents and students to appropriate follow up medical professionals. ? Work cooperatively with the nurses, guidance counselors, teachers, coaches, parents and local medical professionals. Comply with all the rules and regulations of the State of Massachusetts Athletic Trainer Practice act, and Concussion law. Maintain up to date concussion education. Administer concussion baseline testing and sideline and post injury testing to student athletes in the Millis Athletics program. Establish return to play protocol and ensure compliance. Establish protocols and update them as needed for: Emergency Action Plans to include lightning rules, heat injuries and protocols for weather related health issues and concussion plans. Communicate with the police, fire and EMTs for proper protocols when needing their assistance. Responsible for athletic training supplies/equipment, including pricing research/bid pricing, PO requests, order placement, distribution, and inventory ? Maintain continuing education units for licensure and to stay up to date on the latest healthcare protocols. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Millis School Committee. Manage all aspects of sports registration & medical eligibility, adhering to state laws and MIAA regulations, including: Online registration- set up and administration for each sports season; notification to families Record of annual physical examination in conjunction with school nurse (required for athletics every 13 months) Records of annual concussion education certificates and opioid misuse prevention education (FamilyID sign off) for athletes and families Records of user fees, in conjunction with the Athletic Director and business office Attendance records for MIAA mandated health & safety preseason meeting prior to each sports season Compilation of eligibility rosters for each sport prior to season start coordination with coaches to ensure compliance Compilation and submission of annual state mandated concussion reporting forms for middle and high schools Management of coaching requirements- completion and recording • Annual concussion education record CPR/AED/First Aid Training record School Health and wellness: Spend time in direct collaboration with the HS/MS nurse on administration of all aspects of district concussion policy during the latter part of the school day. This may include: assessment, physician referral, physician documentation, school day follow up visits (daily while symptomatic); post-injury ImPACT testing; academic accommodations/return to learn plans, including documentation of stages and notification of appropriate school day personnel (teachers, guidance, admin) Ensure excellent continuity of care from school day to after school activities/sports through full return to physical activity/athletics progression Assist school nurse with recording of physical exams and immunizations as required by state law Assist school nurse in administration of required screenings, such as postural and visual screenings Consult on orthopedic injury visits to the nurse if available and requested during the latter part of the school day, and/or coordinate follow up at the athletic training room.</p>
