<p>City of Bay City</p> <p>Full Time - Energy Services Specialist</p> <p>Electric Department - Teamsters 214NS</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>This position supports the promotion and implementation of our Energy Waste Reduction (EWR) program. The position combines technical knowledge of energy efficiency programs with strong organizational and communication skills to engage the public through outreach events, education campaigns, and customer support.</p> <p>The Energy Services Specialist will work directly with residents, businesses, and community partners to promote energy-saving opportunities, coordinate public events, and help customers navigate available rebates and services. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a balance of office work and hands-on community engagement.</p> <p>The following is intended as a brief description of the duties, responsibilities, and requirements of the position listed above and is not intended to be all-encompassing or all-inclusive.</p> <p>ILLUSTRATIVE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.</p> <p>Energy Services Support:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the administration and promotion of Bay City Electric Light & Power's Energy Waste Reduction programs. </li><li>Support customers in understanding and applying for residential and commercial energy efficiency rebates. </li><li>Assist in tracking program participation and compiling data for reporting and evaluation. </li><li>Coordinate with internal teams and the Energy Services Coordinator to ensure program goals are met. </li><li>Performs other job duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Community Outreach & Event Planning:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, organize, and attend community events, workshops, and school presentations to promote Bay City Electric Light & Power's energy programs. </li><li>Develop engaging educational materials, displays, and presentations for events. </li><li>Build relationships with local organizations, schools, and businesses to expand outreach efforts. </li><li>Coordinate logistics for events, including scheduling, supplies, transportation, and volunteer involvement. </li><li>Maintain Bay City Electric Light & Power's social media presence and assist in creating outreach content. </li><li>Performs other job duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge and skills in office and computer operation and word processing, spreadsheets, project management, and presentation software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications, experience with social media platforms, and graphic design tools is a plus </li><li>High degree of verbal and written communication skills, including telephone etiquette and public presentation skills. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software, experience with social media platforms, and graphic design tools is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to problem solve with good communication and listening skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively under stress and changes in work priorities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail. </li><li>The ability to work tactfully and in a positive manner with co-workers, other city departments, and other public and private entities. </li><li>Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends. </li></ul> <p>Education/Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a high school diploma. </li><li>1-3 years of experience in customer service, public outreach, and/or event coordination. Experience in energy waste reduction programs preferred </li><li>Possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver's License </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Flexibility of hours may be required to meet the needs of the Department and events. </li></ul> <p>Please see the Full Job Description for more information</p>
