<p>Job Title: Distribution CDL Driver</p> <p>Location: Louisiana, USA</p> <p>Position Reports To: Crew Foreman</p> <p>Job Classification: Full Time / Non-Exempt</p> <p>Company: Electra Grid Solutions</p> <p>electragridsolutions.com</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Distribution CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of commercial motor vehicles in support of overhead and underground electrical distribution construction and maintenance. This role includes the transportation of equipment, tools, and materials to job sites and may involve assisting crews with ground work and material handling. The CDL Driver ensures compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and proper vehicle maintenance practices.</p> <p>Job Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Operate commercial vehicles, including flatbeds, reel trailers, digger derricks, bucket trucks, and other specialized equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Safely transport crews, equipment, and materials to and from job sites</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all loads are properly secured, balanced, and compliant with DOT safety standards</p> </li><li> <p>Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and DVIRs; report and address maintenance issues promptly</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate driver logs and delivery documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in loading and unloading materials using cranes, winches, or manually as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Provide ground support to line crews, including moving materials, setting up work zones, and flagging traffic</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate effectively with foremen, dispatch, and crew members regarding project requirements</p> </li><li> <p>Follow all company and DOT safety policies, procedures, and best practices</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all assigned vehicles are clean, stocked, and maintained</p> </li><li> <p>Support utility construction work in emergency restoration scenarios (storms, outages, etc.)</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School Diploma or GED required</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum 21 years of age with Interstate CDL</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Class A CDL with air brakes and clean driving record required</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum 2 years of relevant driving experience in utility or construction industries preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass DOT physical, drug, alcohol, background, MVR and clearinghouse checks upon hire and continuously while in position</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulations</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read maps, load manifests, and project documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Basic mechanical skills for minor truck and trailer troubleshooting</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to assist in general labor duties and ground crew support when not driving</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills</p> </li><li> <p>Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice</p> </li><li> <p>Able and willing to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays when required</p> </li><li> <p>Willing to work in all types of weather and field conditions</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds regularly</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to climb in and out of trucks, trailers, and equipment multiple times per shift</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, stoop and sit for extended periods</p> </li><li> <p>Frequent walking on uneven or rough terrain</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to secure loads with chains, straps, and binders</p> </li><li> <p>Requires manual dexterity and repetitive motion of hands, arms, and legs</p> </li><li> <p>Must have good hearing and vision to perform driving and site duties safely</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to tolerate exposure to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and temperature extremes</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to wear and operate all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently exposed to loud noise, moving vehicles, heavy equipment, and hazards of electrical work zones</p> </li><li> <p>May require travel to remote job sites and overnight stays</p> </li><li> <p>Work hours may vary depending on project requirements and emergency response situations</p> </li></ul> <p>Key Attributes</p> <ul> <li> <p>Self Motivated - Takes initiative and responsibility for for safety quality.</p> </li><li> <p>Team-Oriented - Works cooperatively with others in a crew setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Customer-Focused - Acts with professionalism and respect.</p> </li><li> <p>Safety-Minded - Adheres to safety protocols and uses PPE properly.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Notes</p> <p>This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
