<p>Position: ROUTES Job Coach</p> <p>Organizational Scope: Reporting directly to the Lead Teacher of ROUTES, Westford Academy's 18-22 Transition Program, and working under the terms of an individual agreement contract, the Job Coach advances the mission of WPS by developing curious lifelong learners who are responsible, empathetic members of the community, demonstrating innovation through a wide variety of opportunities within inclusive, joyful learning environments that embrace their variability and honor their diversity.</p> <p>Position Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Lead Teacher, gather initial baseline data related to current skills, strengths, interests and areas of need for individual students Provide high-quality and targeted instruction as it relates to individual student's goals and objectives Provide a range of support (1:1 to independence) within the program and community settings Support the generalization of learned social skills in a variety of settings (classroom & community) Teach job-specific skills and techniques through hands-on training and simulations Foster independence by promoting problem-solving abilities and encouraging self-advocacy Serve as a liaison between students, employers, and community resources Advocate for accommodations and workplace adjustments to support clients' success and inclusion Collect data related to ADLs and vocational skills Travel within the community Collaborate regularly with educators and other professional staff to communicate students' needs and progress in order to provide appropriate support for each student Follow professional practices consistent with the district;'s policies, practices and vision when working with students, parents/caregivers and colleagues Maintain regular communication with classroom teachers about student progress and instructional plans The omission of specific duties here does not exclude them from the position's responsibilities if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position</p> <p>Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold an associates degree or higher and/or demonstrate professional training by evidence of past job experiences. They will have strong communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with students and private employers. They possess the ability to relate well with students, staff, administrators, parents/caregivers and the community.</p> <p>Experience with vocational training techniques, job development, employment laws, vocational counseling and job coaching Excellent organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain a 7D license Experience working with individuals with disabilities, diverse backgrounds, or facing employment barriers. Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations in the workplace</p> <p>Physical Demands: Physical demands vary in keeping with the assignment but the position generally requires the ability to walk and stand on tile flooring, to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and to bend and twist regularly at the waist, knees and neck.</p> <p>Depending on the assignment, much of the work will require light-moderate physical effort. This may include everyday discomforts and distractions typical of a school setting, such as proximity to students and colleagues, temperature variations, frequent interruptions and moderate noise. Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, and assist in fire and other emergencies drills as required by law and School Committee policy.</p> <p>Terms of Employment: The ROUTES Job Coach is employed under an individual contract. The position is a twelve (12) month position, paid at an hourly rate following the WPS school calendar plus identified weeks during the summer. Typical hours of operation will be 8:30am - 3:00pm, with the ability to flex hours to meet the demands of the position. Terms of employment, including evaluation and salary are determined by the Superintendent of Schools.</p>
