<p>GRADE</p> <p>ASTD11\n</p> <p>LOCATION OF POSITION</p> <p>MDH, Harford County Health Department, Bel Air, MD\n</p> <p>Main Purpose of Job</p> <p>This position is the Substance Abuse and Treatment Services (SATS) Specialist that applies counseling principles, practices, and methods in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of psychological and physiological problems. This position will provide on-site screening,\nassessment, urinalysis coordination, and referral to treatment for clients referred by the\nHarford County Department of Social Services (DSS) who are applying for Temporary Cash\nAssistance (TCA), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, and\nMedical Assistance (MA). This position will provide screening services with referrals to collateral agencies as\nappropriate. This position will support the Harford County Health Department's Bureau\nof Behavioral Health's (Bureau) mission and fulfills the requirements of the Maryland\nDepartment of Health's Gender Specific Services Office (GSS) by ensuring individuals have\naccess to behavioral health services that promote resilience, recovery, and freedom from\naddiction.\n</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education:? ?Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Alcohol and Drug Trainees. \nExperience:? None\n</p> <p>LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS</p> <ol> <li>In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, employees in this classification must apply for and receive a letter of authorization to practice as a trainee from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists within 90 days of their date of hire. \n2. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 employees in this classification must also successfully obtain certification from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Supervised Counselor-Alcohol and Drug within one year of meeting the experience requirement for a Certified Supervised Counselor-Alcohol and Drug. \n3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \n </li></ol> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ol> <li>Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. \n2. Employees in this classification perform the work in a Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) or a Maryland State certified addictions program. \n </li></ol> <p>SELECTION PROCESS</p> <p>Applicants who meet the minimum (and selective) qualifications will be included in further evaluation.
