<p>The Syracuse VAMC is seeking a physician to serve as our Chief Health Informatics Officer. This position is responsible for actively and vocally supporting the goal of establishing a workable local informatics infrastructure and for advancing solutions for managing workflow and knowledge in clinical systems.</p> <p>This position is open to all MD/DO with a sub- specialty in Health Informatics and will have 20% clinical duties in their medical specialty.</p> <p>As the CHIO, the incumbent is charged with actively and vocally supporting the goal of establishing a workable local informatics infrastructure and for advancing solutions for managing workflow and knowledge in clinical systems. As the resident expert in clinical informatics, the CHIO is the primary advisor to the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS), the Chief of Staff (COS), the Medical Center Director, and other key officials.</p> <p>The CHIO will work to reduce redundancy, increase efficiency, and target the application of informatics. In doing so, the incumbent will develop a streamlined and first-class informatics organization.</p> <p>Incumbent will advance national solutions for managing workflow knowledge in clinical information systems as well as patient safety and mandated clinical guidelines and will support local implementation and configuration of nationally developed software and insuring delivery of timely, appropriate and relevant end user training. Incumbent will collaborate with services in developing and utilizing informatics processes that impact patient care.</p> <p>The CHIO is also responsible for other duties that may emerge as they relate to clinical informatics.</p> <p>MANAGERIAL AND SUPERVISORY</p> <p>The CHIO supervises the Clinical Informatics staff to accomplish the work of the organizational unit. Incumbent exercises supervisory authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment and review, as well as the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised. Supervises, plans, and directs the functions and overall personnel management activities, including positions and pay, selection or participation in the selection of subordinate employees.</p> <p>In addition, as the CHIO, the incumbent: uses subordinate supervisors to direct and coordinate the work; exercises significant responsibilities in dealing with officials of other units or organizations, or in advising the Medical Center management.</p> <p>QUALTITY IMPROVEMENT</p> <p>Develops a high reliability organization through direction of the continuous measurement and improvement of the quality of service provided. Plans, coordinates, and ensures high quality through utilization of multiple quality measurement tools.</p> <p>STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT</p> <p>Responsible for the strategic management of the service, including personnel management are requests for additional resources. Develops the annual strategic plan for the service consistent with guidance and goals from the Director's office and oversees its execution and monitoring for complications. Develops and implements tracking methods to monitor the service's operational activities.</p> <p>ORGANIZATIONAL STEWARDSHIP</p> <p>Demonstrates commitment to the Health Care System mission, values, and goals. Manage relationships with services to maximize efficiency and drive highly reliable operations</p> <p>TEAM BUILDING</p> <p>Develops a team of innovative, highly motivated individuals who are continuously striving for excellence in patient care and customer service.</p> <p>COMMUNICATIONS</p> <p>Demonstrates leadership in addressing ethical issues that impact clients and staff in/or beyond the organization/local health care community. Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient and client data.</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Work Schedule: Full Time M -F or as needed by the service.</p>
