Posting Number 20162816F Job Description</p> <p>The Department of Biological Sciences at Biological Sciences Department | Ohio University invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction. This position is renewable annually depending upon available funding, performance, and continuing departmental need. The ideal candidate will have expertise in microbiology and will be expected to teach undergraduate biology courses covering topics in basic genetics, molecular and cellular biology, and microbiology. They must be able to design and deliver engaging lectures and laboratories to cater to varied learning styles and have demonstrated a strong commitment to student success. The courses will be delivered mostly in person at the Athens Campus, but there will be opportunities to teach online courses. The teaching load for this position is typically three to four courses per semester, based on departmental needs. Further responsibilities will include service to the department, college, or university as well as advising students in the Biological Sciences department.</p> <p>Ohio University and the Department of Biological Sciences:</p> <p>Ohio University is a Carnegie Foundation R1 residential campus with an enrollment of over 25,000 students. Founded in 1804, Ohio University Athens campus consists of nine colleges and multiple interdisciplinary programs. The Department of Biological Sciences consists of a vibrant intellectual community with curriculum designed to prepare students for specific careers, graduate school, and professional schools.</p> <p>The beautiful and historical Ohio University campus sits at the heart of the city of Athens, a family-friendly and culturally diverse city nestled in the Appalachian foothills. The city is surrounded by state parks, providing a scenic atmosphere with abundant wildlife and hundreds of miles of nearby hiking, biking, and jogging trails.
