<p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Administers and supervises the activities and personnel of the Aquatics Division. </li><li>Interviews, hires, trains, schedules, and oversees lifeguards and head lifeguards. </li><li>Plans, organizes, promotes, and evaluates aquatic programs including swim lessons, camps, and pool parties. </li><li>Ensures pool rules, regulations, and safety standards are followed by patrons and enforced by staff. </li><li>Responds to inquiries and concerns from swimmers, parents, and the public. </li><li>Coordinates and manages rental contracts with local swim teams, swim school, and books rentals for private parties and events. </li><li>Utilizes RecDesk software for program registration, roster management, daily deposits, payments, and membership administration. </li><li>Performs daily water quality tests and ensures pools meet all SC Department of Environmental Services standards and safety requirements. </li><li>Inspects the facility regularly for safety, cleanliness, and maintenance needs; submits maintenance and flyer requests as needed. </li><li>Orders staff uniforms, equipment, and pool supplies. </li><li>Creates and maintains pool operating calendars, event schedules, and staff schedules. </li><li>Records daily deposits and maintains accurate financial documentation. </li><li>Assists with community programming and events at the pool within the Programs Division. </li><li>Coordinates and supervises assigned Athletic programs, including planning seasonal sports leagues, completing team assignments, creating game schedules, communicating with parents and coaches, and ordering equipment and uniforms. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field, preferred. </li><li>Two (2) years of experience in the recreation field, required. </li><li>Two (2) years of supervisory experience, required. </li><li>Any combination of education and experience totaling four (4) years may be considered. </li><li>Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid. </li><li>Valid South Carolina Driver's License. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of water rescue methods and the ability to effectively respond to and assist swimmers in distress. </li><li>Knowledge of pool maintenance and chemicals used. </li><li>Knowledge of personnel management and supervision. </li><li>Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation, psychology, and sociology. </li><li>Knowledge of department policies and procedures. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to formulate short and long-term organizational plans. </li><li>Ability to multi-task. </li><li>Ability to perform water rescues and CPR. </li><li>Ability to motivate people. </li><li>Ability to provide customer service to include problem solving and dispute resolution when necessary. </li><li>Ability to prepare and manage departmental budgets. </li><li>Ability to operate field marking equipment and perform heavy lifting. </li><li>Ability to use computers and various software programs, to include Word and Excel. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>The work is typically performed in an office environment and outdoors. Seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, and risks involved around water.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>This position constantly requires hearing, vision, verbal communication, and fine motor dexterity. Work is performed while intermittently standing, walking, bending, climbing, crouching, or stooping. The Aquatics Coordinator must be able to perform water rescues and lift individuals out of the pool as needed. Heavy lifting is required.</p> <p>MENTAL DEMANDS</p> <p>Frequently requires time pressures, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, irregular schedule/overtime, and working closely with others as part of a team.
