<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Category: High School Teaching/Special Education Teacher</p> <p>Date Posted: 5/29/2026</p> <p>Location: High School</p> <p>Date of Availability: 2026-2027 School Year</p> <p>Date Closing: Open Until Filled</p> <p>Position Title: Teacher, Resource</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: A) A valid special education certificate issued by the Connecticut State Department of Education.</p> <ol> <li>Experience in the field as the Board of Education and Administration may find appropriate and acceptable. </li></ol> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal and/or designee</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>To implement the school's special education program and provide the necessary remedial and consultative services required for children referred to the program.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Attends Planning and Placement Team meetings on all children who might, or who do, qualify for such special services. </li><li>Completes diagnostic testing recommended by the Planning and Placement Team and necessary pre-and post-testing on children included in the program. </li><li>Develops and implements an Individualized Educational Program for each Special Education student included in the program as a special education student. </li><li>Maintains records on all children referred for such special services. </li><li>Acts a consultant, and serves as a resource person for administrators, teachers, and parents in regard to specific students who demonstrate learning disabilities and/or significant learning difficulties. </li><li>Interprets the Special Education Program to staff, parents, and community. </li><li>Assists Director of Special Education in the interpretation of information concerning and making recommendations for Special Education children placed outside of the public schools, as indicated. </li><li>Assists Director of Special Education and Superintendent of Schools in development of policies relative to the Resource Program. </li><li>Supervises and evaluates Special Education teacher aides directly involved in the Special Education Program. </li><li>Assists building principal in developing an annual budget for the Special Education Program. </li><li>Carries out other duties related to the Resource Program as assigned by the Director of Special Education. </li></ul> <p>TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month position.</p> <p>EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy 4115.</p> <p>Approved: 6/84</p> <p>Revised: 2/06, 3/11</p>
