<p>The Program for the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration (PARCC) at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in democratic activism, advocacy, and social movements to work with an interdisciplinary team on the "Frontlines of Democracy Project." The Frontlines Project is a multi-method, interdisciplinary research effort focused on the global democracy and freedom ecosystem. Specifically, the project investigates the perspectives of democracy advocates and activists in terms of barriers, opportunities, and priorities, as well as the perspectives of philanthropists, foundations, and other funders in terms of how they understand giving and potential investments in democracy and freedom. Through this research, the project team seeks to develop data-driven strategies that strengthen democracy and freedom networks, connect advocates and funders, and direct targeted resources toward critical gaps in the ecosystem.</p> <p>The postdoctoral researcher position is a one-year (12 month) appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to three years. Review of applications will begin on August 15, 2025, and appointments may begin as early as September 1, 2025.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>PhD in public administration, nonprofit management, public policy, political science, sociology, or other related area conferred by the time of appointment. </li><li>Must demonstrate strong interest in the global democracy movement and expertise in democratic advocacy, activism, and/or social movements. </li><li>Demonstrate excellent research and data analysis skills, including proficiency with both quantitative and qualitative research approaches, and have outstanding communication skills, including the ability to write for and speak to different kinds of audiences. </li><li>Self-motivated and organized, with strong time management, communication, and team skills. </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Expertise in democratic activism, advocacy, and/or social movements. </li><li>Assist with the design and implementation of large-scale research designs, including the development of data collection instruments such as surveys and interview protocols, the construction of databases, the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and the production and dissemination of knowledge through reports, publications, and presentations. </li><li>Engage in the creation of teaching and educational resources, the organization and facilitation of workshops, and team management and oversight, among other duties. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter specifying qualifications for the position, a writing sample, and a list of 3 references.</p>
