<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The School of the Arts at Dean College is looking for dynamic, experienced, student-centered educators to teach in person assigned courses in Roots of Popular Music and Acting V: Period Drama during the Fall 2025 semester.</p> <p>The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean College create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.</p> <p>All faculty will be expected to make active use of the learning management system Canvas at least at a minimum level established by the college. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The adjunct pay rate typically is $3,300 per section for a course that meets for the equivalent of three weekly contact hours per semester.</p> <p>The School of the Arts provides a course charter with course objectives and learning outcomes and sample syllabi. Adjunct Faculty in the School of the Arts are hired as needed, based on student enrollment. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall semester begins early September and ends in mid-December.</p> <p>Position responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Teach assigned courses in areas such as music and theatre, following an established schedule and course format. </li><li>Create an engaging, student-centered learning environment that emphasizes experiential learning and supports students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. </li><li>Implement and assess course objectives and learning outcomes as provided in the School of the Arts course charter and sample syllabi. </li><li>Use the Canvas learning management system to support instruction, communication, and assessment at a level consistent with college expectations. </li><li>Hold one office hour per week per course section to provide student support outside of class time. </li><li>Uphold professional standards in the classroom, contributing to the overall quality and reputation of the School of the Arts. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline, required. </li><li>A graduate degree or extensive professional experience in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline is highly preferred. </li><li>Preference will be given to candidates who can provide evidence of strong teaching acumen from a sound pedagogical and anatomical model. </li><li>Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools, required; </li><li>Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media, required; </li><li>Expertise in learner-centered teaching, required; </li><li>Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy, required; </li><li>Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Dean College is an equal-opportunity, Title IX institution and pledges to recruit, select and promote diversity by providing equality of opportunity in higher education for all persons, including faculty and staff with respect to hiring, continuation, promotion, and applicants for admission, enrolled students and graduates without discrimination or segregation.</p> <p>The College is interested in candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of colleagues, students, faculty, and community members.
