<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Math Teacher- Grade 8</p> <p>Position Title: Math Teacher - Grade 8</p> <p>Location: Swift Middle School</p> <p>Position Reports To: Principal of Swift Middle School</p> <p>Job ID: #2325</p> <p>Internal Close Date: July 14, 2025</p> <p>External Close Date: July 28, 2025</p> <p>Anticipated Start Date: Upon Completion of Onboarding; Contractual year begins July 1; First day</p> <p>of school year is August 25, 2025</p> <p>About the Position</p> <p>We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Mathematics Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mathematics and the ability to inspire young minds to engage with and excel in mathematical concepts.</p> <p>Required Certifications</p> <p>Current State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate #029 Preferred (or #229)</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred) </li><li>Valid state teaching certification for middle school mathematics </li><li>Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in middle school </li><li>Strong knowledge of mathematics concepts and teaching methodologies </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction </li><li>Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills, Knowledge Performance Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement engaging mathematics curriculum for grades 6-8 </li><li>Create lesson plans that align with state and national standards </li><li>Utilize various teaching methods to cater to different learning styles </li><li>Assess student performance and provide timely feedback </li><li>Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues </li><li>Participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities </li><li>Collaborate with other teachers to integrate math across the curriculum </li><li>Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment </li><li>Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational software </li><li>Knowledge of current trends in mathematics education </li><li>Ability to lead extracurricular activities or math clubs as applicable </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties</p> <p>Perform all other duties that may be assigned by the Building Administrator(s) and Director of Operations, Curriculum & Instruction</p> <p>Terms of Employment</p> <p>Based on the working agreement between the Watertown Board of Education and the Watertown Education Association</p> <p>All application materials must be submitted online, through Applitrack; should you have any difficulty in submitting your online application please contact (860)945-4813.</p> <ul> <li>District reserves the right to close the posting if a suitable candidate is found prior to the external closing date. </li></ul>
