Paid time off is offered in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Kelso Education Association found HERE</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Participate in development and implementation of IEPs, FBA's, BIP's, ERP's for special education students</p> <p>Undertake with the timely submission of IEPs and progress reports</p> <p>Plan and implement learning activities for students with varied abilities</p> <p>Organize programs to provide for individual differences</p> <p>Maintain current Crisis Prevention Institute Training</p> <p>Evaluate, develop and modify curriculum for individual student needs in general education classroom and in special education</p> <p>Demonstrate a knowledge of behavior de-escalation technique and positive support plans</p> <p>Demonstrate skill in preparing special education students to meet the state essential learnings</p> <p>Demonstrate the ability to relate to all students in a warm, accepting manner</p> <p>Demonstrate a knowledge and application of growth and development of school-age children</p> <p>Maintain appropriate student records and continuous measurement data on student progress</p> <p>Demonstrate knowledge and skill in organizing and maintaining the educational setting</p> <p>Conduct conferences with parents to report student progress toward meeting IEP goals and objectives, and progress in core content areas</p> <p>Communicate and interpret the school program to parents and patrons</p> <p>Work cooperatively with staff members</p> <p>Ability to supervise instructional assistants</p> <p>Demonstrate skills in using group process</p> <p>Demonstrate skill in collaboration and co-teaching</p> <p>Cooperate as a team member in staffing, diagnosis, and least restrictive placement of disabled students</p> <p>Demonstrate personal traits which make him/her a good role model for students</p> <p>Demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching and learning</p> <p>Demonstrate a willingness to accept both routine and special tasks</p> <p>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities</p> <p>Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>A valid Washington State teaching certificate with Special Education Endorsement</p> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in curriculum and instructional techniques</p> <p>Demonstrated academic preparation and/or experience in special education</p> <p>Demonstrated knowledge and skills in educational technology and the ability to integrate technology into instruction</p> <p>Demonstrated willingness and ability to work cooperatively with administration, parents and staff</p> <p>Demonstrated skills in diagnostic testing and remediation of learning problems</p> <p>Demonstrated expertise and/or experience in behavior management</p> <p>Demonstrated willingness and ability to work effectively with students and parents</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum to students' interests and learning styles</p> <p>Demonstrated successful experience working with disabled students of various ages/levels</p> <p>Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students and the ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students</p> <p>Bilingual or multilingual desired</p> <p>Knowledge of essential learnings and ability to integrate them into the classroom</p> <p>Ability to use a variety of assessment strategies, including preparing students for state required testing</p> <p>Demonstrated desire to continue professional growth</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to work as a team member</p> <p>Ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures</p> <p>OTHER FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned</p> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>School Principal</p> <p>BARGAINING UNIT AFFILIATION:</p> <p>Per negotiated agreement between the Kelso School District and the Kelso Education Association; Salary Schedule</p> <p>Kelso School District #458 complies with all federal rules and regulations and does not discriminate in any programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups listed in Title 36 of the United States Code.
