The</p> <p>school opened in 2014-2015 with 50 students in grades 7 & 8 and will celebrate its 10th anniversary in</p> <p>24/25 with over 300 students. MIMS seeks a Social Studies teacher passionate about working with</p> <p>students from early adolescence to high school. This candidate develops their students' critical reading</p> <p>and writing skills and connects themes, concepts, and thinking strategies across disciplines. As a</p> <p>globally-minded school, we seek a Social Studies teacher who has an international perspective and</p> <p>contributes to building a school culture where diverse cultures are welcomed and where students are</p> <p>encouraged to be curious, rigorous, kind and fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and</p> <p>psychological growth. We seek a Social Studies teacher who likes to develop interdisciplinary units with</p> <p>colleagues in other disciplines. We seek a Social Studies teacher who can teach within the IB framework,</p> <p>which in the MYP focuses on process as much as product, and in the upper grades includes courses at</p> <p>the High Level (advanced) and Standard Level (regular). Establishing strong relationships with students</p> <p>in and out of the classroom is essential.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>Level 1 $50,000</p> <p>?Level 2 $60,000</p> <p>?Level 3 $70,000</p> <p>Education/Training/Experience</p> <p>Minimum: A four-year degree and a valid New Mexico secondary teaching license (or</p> <p>the ability to obtain such), with appropriate endorsements for the courses being taught.</p> <p>Preferred: IB Experience, international experience, bi- or multilingualism, and at</p> <p>least two years of previous teaching experience in middle and/or high school.</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>? We seek a Social Studies teacher who demonstrates general knowledge of English Language</p> <p>Arts and Social Studies curriculum and instruction and has the ability to blend competencies, i.e.,</p> <p>Common Core standards with IB standards.</p> <p>? We seek a Social Studies teacher who is solution-oriented, blends autonomy and accountability,</p> <p>and can exercise considerable and sound judgment to instruct students and influence their</p> <p>character.</p> <p>? We seek a Social Studies teacher who is a learner who thrives on continuous improvement and</p> <p>remains current with the latest developments in the profession.</p> <p>? We seek a Social Studies teacher who uses technology fluently as an instructional tool for</p> <p>learning and is culturally competent, meaning they deal efficiently with multiple ethnic groups and</p> <p>see the world as a classroom.</p> <p>? We seek a Social Studies teacher with strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written</p> <p>communication skills who establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, peers,</p> <p>and parents. Collaborating with others to achieve the schools vision, mission, and overall goals is</p> <p>critical.</p> <p>Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to):</p> <p>A wide variety of instructional materials and resources are used, including electronic/digital equipment.</p> <p>SMARTBOARDS are standard in each classroom, and each student receives a laptop computer. As per</p> <p>Santa Fe Public Schools policy, we use ManageBac as our Learning Management System, which is</p> <p>uniquely adapted for IB, Canvas, and PowerSchool.</p> <p>Physical/Cognitive Requirements:</p> <p>Typical teacher requirements include regularly standing and moving throughout the room and/or facility;</p> <p>communicating verbally and electronically; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or</p> <p>controls; and reaching with hands and arms. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.</p> <p>Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and drive, regularly required to lift or exert force of up to 25</p> <p>pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability</p> <p>to adjust focus.</p> <p>Environmental Conditions:</p> <p>Typical teacher conditions include usually moderate noise levels, occasional exposure to outdoor weather</p> <p>conditions, and occasional travel to other facilities within the District.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <p>All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental</p> <p>regulations, and facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change</p> <p>from time to time to meet the organization's needs. Current essential functions include the following:</p> <p>Plans and implements the IB program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs,</p> <p>interests, and abilities of students and complies with IB standards, Common Core State Standards, plus</p> <p>the SFPS Board of Education goals and objectives.</p> <ol> <li>Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group </li></ol> <p>instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil's needs.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
