<p>Requisition Number Stu488P Position Type Student Worker Department Department of Student Workers Job Title Student Worker - Center for Health Education & Promotion - Academic Year 2025 - 2026 Classification Student Worker Pay Rate Starting rate $11.00/hr</p> <p>Position Summary Information</p> <p>Hours per week 5-10 hrs/week Days Worked Flexible Hours/Shift worked Flexible</p> <p>Posting Detail Information</p> <p>Job Summary/Basic Function</p> <p>The Center for Health Education & Promotion is seeking Peer Educators to provide lifestyle education programs, host awareness events and information tables, and provide educational resources to students on a wide collection of topics including: alcohol and other drugs; mental health and suicide prevention; healthy relationships and sexual health. Peer Educators engage the campus community and provide students with important information on the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle, resources and services available at Millersville University, and how to smartly and safely make the most out of their college experience.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to conduct research </li><li>Ability to present in front of small and large groups of students </li><li>Ability to work in groups and independently </li><li>Willingness to perform varied duties </li><li>Willingness to engage students at events and tabling outreach </li><li>Good communication and organization skills </li><li>Ability to maintain privacy </li><li>Customer service skills </li><li>Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and manage time </li><li>Ability and willingness to assist the department with various projects including campaigns, surveys and data collection, and collaborations with other departments and community organizations </li><li>Ability to complete work in a timely manner with little supervision </li><li>Attend events and staff tabling outreach with a positive attitude and willingness to talk with students </li><li>Participate in mandatory trainings and staff meetings </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Sophomore or Junior class standing </li><li>Interested in health and wellness topics relevant to college students </li><li>Previous experience with programming, presenting, researching </li><li>Minimum GPA of 2.5 </li></ul> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Administrative</p> <ul> <li>Attend weekly student staff meetings on Mondays from 5:15-6:15pm or 9-10pm. </li><li>Attend weekly peer educator trainings Thursdays from 12-1pm. </li><li>Work 3, regularly scheduled office hours (your choice) in the CHEP office. </li><li>Create Get Involved events and track attendance at all events, programs, and outreaches. </li><li>Assist with the management of CHEP social media and creation of content including promotional posts for events, outreach, and programs. </li><li>Represent CHEP at events, tabling outreach and various campus-wide planning committees. </li></ul> <p>Training</p> <ul> <li> <p>Attend a week-long mandatory training the week prior to the start of the fall semester.</p> </li><li> <p>This training is the same time as Resident Assistant training and Orientation Leader responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Students are paid for this training and are required to attend the entire length of training.</p> </li><li> <p>Training is Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. (August 18-22, 2025)</p> </li><li> <p>Complete online Certified Peer Educator (CPE) training through NASPA.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in ongoing professional development and trainings.</p> </li></ul> <p>Program Design and Implementation</p> <ul> <li>Present interactive, educational workshops. </li><li>Create and implement outreach initiatives on campus pertaining to health topics relevant to college students as well as worldwide wellbeing related topics. </li><li>Assist in the development and implementation of campus-wide awareness events. </li><li>Develop and present educational programs based on research. </li><li>Create marketing campaigns from survey data. </li><li>Attend department events and tabling outreach with an engaging, positive attitude and willingness to talk with students about health education. </li></ul> <p>Research & Assessment</p> <ul> <li>Conduct program assessments including pre and posttests during all interactive, educational workshops. </li><li>Develop and implement means for assessing awareness events and outreach initiatives. </li><li>Routinely assess student feedback and make necessary program revisions. </li><li>Create compiled reports of program assessments and student feedback. </li><li>Assist in distribution and collection of departmental surveys. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions and Physical Effort Posting Open Date 05/12/2025 Posting Close Date 05/15/2026 Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Previous experience is not required.
