<p>Job Description:</p> <p>BROAD FUNCTION</p> <p>The Senior Systems Administrator works within the ITS Department, and reports to the Assistant Director of Enterprise Infrastructure. This position provides quality service and responsive end-user support, to college employees and students, related to IT enterprise infrastructure, including administration of servers, Active Directory/Entra, cloud infrastructure platforms and application suites, security, virtualization platform system, network services, data storage, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery. This position is part of a service team working in collaboration with the ITS infrastructure team and front-line support teams and is responsible for ensuring a highly reliable, available, and secure technology environment that supports academic, administrative, and student computing for the College.</p> <p>This is an in-person position located on our campus in Syracuse, NY. The person in this role may be on-call and may be required to remote in or provide on campus technical support outside of standard business hours.</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Planning, testing, implementing, monitoring, and maintenance of the following, across the enterprise:</p> <ul> <li>Servers (Windows & Linux). </li><li>Directory services, managing accounts. </li><li>Microsoft Office enterprise productivity suite and MDM. </li><li>Security and vulnerability management. </li><li>Infrastructure services, such as DNS, DHCP, NTP. </li><li>Cloud infrastructure platforms and services. </li><li>Virtualization platform, including hosts, vSAN, vNetwork, and VM's. </li><li>Data storage in SAN environment. </li><li>Backup and restoration of servers and systems, and disaster recovery. </li><li>Authentication, SSO, encryption, certificate management. </li></ul> <p>Fulfilling the following tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Document configurations and manage change processes. </li><li>Act as a conduit to support various campus services and enterprise applications in collaboration with other departments and vendors. </li><li>Establish and maintain relationships with external suppliers and contractors. </li><li>Position is on-call and may require remote or on-campus technical support outside of standard business hours. </li><li>Provide backup coverage to other IT staff. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by members of the ITS Leadership Team within scope of job duties. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalency and at least 5 years of hands-on technical expertise in the areas stated in this position guide. OR </li><li>Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalency and at least 9 years of hands-on technical expertise in the areas stated in this position guide. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Ten (10) years experience with Linux server administration. </li><li>Experience working in project management framework. </li><li>Experience providing customer services. </li><li>Knowledge and experience in project management principles and practice. </li><li>Bilingual in Spanish & English. Bilingual in English and other languages will be considered. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Windows Server and Linux Server. </li><li>Active Directory and related services, Domain Group Policy. </li><li>DNS, DHCP, NTP (in Linux and Windows). </li><li>VMware virtualization platform. </li><li>Microsoft SharePoint/OneDrive, Office 365 suite, Teams, SCCM, and Intune/MDM. </li><li>Microsoft Entra (Azure) and AWS. </li><li>Scripting for automation. </li><li>Proven ability to successfully operate within a customer service framework. </li><li>Proven ability to successfully complete multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule. </li><li>Experience with operational change and problem management procedures. </li><li>Ability to work independently, as well as in and embrace a team focused environment. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. </li><li>Flexibility to adapt and thrive in a progressive and changing work environment. </li><li>Ability to provide occasional off-hours support. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Salary range is: $58,564 - $70,000, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience (this is a salaried position based on 35 hours/week).</p> </li><li> <p>Onondaga Community College offers a generous and competitive benefits package including:</p> </li><li> <p>New York State Local Retirement System (pension) or TIAA enrollment (403b).</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent health, dental, and vision insurance plans (qualifying domestic partner included).</p> </li><li> <p>Onondaga Community College participates in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program for eligible borrowers.</p> </li><li> <p>This job is fully in person in our office in Syracuse, NY.</p> </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <ul> <li>To be considered, please submit a resume and cover letter at time of application. </li><li>The three (3) references listed on the application must be professional references, one of which must be a current or former supervisor. </li><li>Finalists will be contacted prior to references being checked. </li><li>Offers are contingent upon the completion of a background check, and official transcripts are required upon hire. </li></ul> <p>Please contact hr@sunyocc.edu if you have questions.</p>
