<p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team to develop procedures and protocols for testing electronic devices during the new product development (NPD) design phase. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating comprehensive test plans, executing environmental stress testing, and conducting validation and verification testing of electronics and software.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop procedures and protocols for testing electronic devices during NPD design phase. </li><li>Create comprehensive test plans linked back to project requirements. </li><li>Perform thermal data collection and analysis to support continuous improvement and NPD. </li><li>Design, procure, and fabricate electromechanical automated test fixtures. </li><li>Execute environmental stress testing such as temperature, humidity, vibration, and EMC. </li><li>Conduct validation and verification testing of electronics and software. </li><li>Perform component-level debugging of electronic devices, SMT soldering rework, and PCB programming. </li><li>Support agency pre-compliance testing as required (CE, UL, CSA). </li><li>Communicate effectively with engineering staff on unit performance and functionality issues. </li><li>Handle equipment logistics for all outsourced lab testing. </li><li>Review internal and external lab results with business unit engineering management. </li><li>Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment; follow all 5S and safety guidelines. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Experience with embedded systems, PCBs, EMC, IoT, and environmental testing. </li><li>Ability to troubleshoot and analyze circuit diagrams. </li><li>Proficiency in reading, recording, interpreting, and creating technical data and documents. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret CAD technical documentation. </li><li>Experience in using mechanical, electronic, and software development equipment and systems. </li><li>Ability to create electronic schematics and modify PCB circuits for test instrumentation and rework. </li><li>Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Strong mechanical aptitude. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. </li><li>Ability to multitask and excellent organizational skills. </li><li>Experience in making recommendations on process improvement and identifying unsafe work practices. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines. </li><li>Electronics Engineering or Applied Science Engineering degree with relevant industry experience. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The role involves developing, testing, and maintaining test procedures and protocols associated with electromechanical, electrical, and IoT-enabled electronic devices. The candidate will work with test fixture development and fabrication, environmental testing (temperature, humidity, lifecycle testing), and analyzing thermal data. A strong understanding of electronic circuits, debugging analog and digital circuits, and the ability to write test software (PLC, Arduino) are essential. The position is fast-paced and requires a hands-on problem-solving approach.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract position based out of Inverness, IL.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
