<p>Position Information</p> <p>Posting Number F00356 Position Title Assistant Professor of Film Production (Tenure Track) Division Academic Affairs Division Department Name Film Studies Program Position Type Faculty Position Overview</p> <p>The Film Studies Program at Rhode Island College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Film Production. The individual will teach a range of courses in the areas of pre-production, production, and post-production; advise film majors; engage in scholarly and/or creative work; and participate in department, college, and community service in manners appropriate to the position. Ability to collaborate across departmental subdisciplines in both teaching and creative work preferred.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Teach upper-level courses in cinematography and lighting, editing and sound mixing, and-based on area of specialization-either advanced narrative film production or advanced documentary film production. </li><li>Additional teaching responsibilities may include other courses offered within the Film Studies Program. </li><li>Advise students majoring in Film. </li><li>Direct production-based honors projects or capstone projects. </li><li>Engage in scholarly and/or creative work. </li><li>Participate in department, college, and community service. </li></ul> <p>Occasional Duties</p> <p>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department chair.</p> <p>Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to teach film courses from the 100-level to 400-level. </li><li>Ability to continue creative work. </li><li>Ability to coordinate and/or participate in the full range of activities of a film program. </li><li>Must have knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. </li><li>Must possess the ability to work well with students and colleagues. </li><li>Must the possess ability to mentor students in their creative work. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Education: MFA in Film and/or Media Production, conferred by July 1, 2026. PhD with relevant film production experience will also be considered.</p> <p>Experience: Experience in either narrative or documentary filmmaking.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Training and experience in one of the following: screenwriting, color grading, VFX work. </li><li>Willingness to serve in a faculty leadership role as part of college-wide shared governance following the awarding of tenure. </li><li>Experience working with non-traditional students and a diverse student population. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions</p> <p>Varies by course.
