Our 140 team members provide technology, practices and innovative solutions that enable the core services of the Council.</p> <p>How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:</p> <p>The Systems Engineer 4 Endpoint Architect is a senior-level position responsible for all aspects of the Metropolitan Council (MC) enterprise endpoint computing systems, including planning, testing, implementation, and support. The ideal candidate will have system administration experience in Microsoft M365, Microsoft Azure, On-premises (On-Prem) infrastructure, and automation. Experience working in a Payment Card Industry (PCI) environment is a plus. The position will work as part of a team, designing, building, integrating, and supporting systems that meet the MC's technology needs. This position will require critical thinking, problem solving and analysis skills. The right candidate will use their extensive endpoint engineering knowledge to continually improve and develop the Metropolitan Council's cloud and on-prem endpoint environments.</p> <p>Note: Position is based at our Robert Street office in St. Paul and requires some travel to various Council work sites in the Twin Cities metro area. Some Council work sites are not accessible by public transportation, so driving a Council vehicle may be necessary. Candidate's permanent residence must be in Minnesota or Wisconsin.</p> <p>What you would do in this job</p> <ul> <li>Endpoint Strategy and Implementation: Lead the planning, design, implementation, and support of the Council's endpoint management strategy, across a wide range of devices and platforms (Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS, etc.) </li><li>Operational Excellence: Provide expert operational support for the Council's endpoint management environments and ensure seamless end-user experiences </li><li>Technical Leadership: Act as a technical leader and mentor, guiding and supporting colleagues in their technical development and growth </li><li>Collaboration and Communication: Partner effectively with vendors, application support teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and drive successful outcomes </li><li>Continuous Improvement: Continually improve and apply security best practices to enhance quality assurance, product reliability, and operational efficiency of the Council's multiple endpoint environments </li><li>Incident Response and Problem Resolution: Participate in application troubleshooting, incident response, and problem resolution, collaborating with cross-functional teams to restore services and minimize disruptions </li><li>Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain endpoint related documentation (architectural diagrams, runbooks, playbooks, code and scripts) and contribute to the team's knowledge base </li></ul> <p>What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)</p> <p>Any of the following combinations of education (in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field)and experiencein the design, installation, operation, management and troubleshooting of Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android operating systems:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma/GED with 10 years of experience, including 3 years of lead, supervisory, project management or management experience </li><li>Associate's degree with 8 years of experience including 3 years of lead, supervisory, project management or management experience </li><li>Bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience including 3 years of lead, supervisory, project management or management experience </li><li>Master's degree with 4 years of experience including 3 years of lead, supervisory, project experience:</p> </li><li> <p>Experience leading and managing endpoint architecture-related projects that follow secure endpoint architecture best practices</p> </li><li> <p>Microsoft, Apple, and Android OS endpoint configuration, maintenance, storage and backup solutions and tooling including:</p> </li><li> <p>Mobile device management tools and portals like Microsoft Intune Company Portal, JAMF SaaS, Airwatch and other MDMs</p> </li><li> <p>Configuration management tools like SCCM, Ansible, and others</p> </li><li> <p>Identity access management tools like M365 Admin Center, Active Directory, Azure Entra ID and others</p> </li><li> <p>Virtualization technologies like Citrix, VMware, Hyper-V and others</p> </li><li> <p>File sharing solutions and tools like CIFS, AFP, NFS, SFTP, and others</p> </li><li> <p>SCADA, PCI, and DMZ secure environment management</p> </li><li> <p>Automation and Scripting: Hands-on experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Ansible) for automation and management tasks</p> </li><li> <p>Security focus: Strong knowledge of endpoint security best practices and technologies (antivirus, malware, MFA, PKI certificate management)</p> </li><li> <p>Industry Certifications: ITIL, Microsoft, Apple, Azure, and other related certifications</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with internal and external partners with diverse backgrounds, In accordance with section 5.12.1.1 of the FBI CJIS Security Policy, final candidates must agree to submit to a state of residence and national fingerprint-based record check.</p> <p>If the result of the record check reveals criminal convictions, the nature and circumstances of those convictions will be reviewed by the Metropolitan Transit Police Department and/or the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to determine if access to Criminal Justice Information would be permissible.
