Each of these departments plays a crucial role in the functionality of state government. From paying state employees to balancing the state's checkbook to working with local units and developing year-end financial reports, these departments and the employees within them are dedicated to accurate and transparent accounting on behalf of Hoosiers across the state.</p> <p>Position/Summary:</p> <p>Incumbent serves as Audit Payment Specialist for the Office of State Comptroller, auditing payment vouchers to be approved for payment. Other jobs duties may include researching and canceling or reissuing payments; process and reporting 1099s; and coordinating office retention records.</p> <p>Essential Duties/Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Audits all payments submitted to the office by ensuring that state agencies are compliant with the State's accounting manual, policies, statutes and codes </li><li>Research and process canceling or reissuing payments </li><li>Research payment questions </li><li>Maintain bank account ledger </li><li>Coordinate office retention records </li><li>Assist agency with invalid payment issues </li></ul> <p>Other Duties may include, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for filing, storing and retrieving accounts payable and settlement records </li><li>Maintain processed payment files </li><li>Backup support for the Service Center </li><li>Perform related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements and Difficulty of Work:</p> <ul> <li>Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products </li><li>PeopleSoft Financials experience preferred </li><li>Knowledge of accounts payable process </li><li>Ability to understand and identify risks </li><li>Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with the general public, as well as co-workers in a courteous and tactful manner </li><li>Possess attention to detail </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information </li><li>The complexity of the work is repetitive, restricted in scope but of substantial intricacy, involving several variables or considerations with inter-relationships that are not clearly evident </li><li>The nature of instructions and guidelines for work is generally accepted but are not always clearly applicable.
