<p>HarcoSemco is a Custom Aerospace Components Manufacturer. We have seen great success in innovating advanced manufacturing techniques in the design and fabrication of temperature sensors, thermocouple systems, interconnect cable-harness assemblies, probes, and sensors. For over 65 years, we have successfully supplied these products to the commercial, business, military jet, rotor, and spacecraft markets.</p> <p>Located in Branford, CT, we have an opportunity for a Design Engineer. The Design Engineer directs, coordinates, and executes all aspects of new product development. Responsibilities include control, integration, and completion of engineering projects. This requires a self-motivated individual to design with regards to cost, manufacturability, and quality constraints in mind.</p> <p>HarcoSemco is proud to be a Federal contractor and supplier of material to the US Department of Defense.</p> <p>This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a "US Person" as defined by 22 CFR 120.62, 15 CFR 734.2(b)(2)(ii), 10 CFR 810.3, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) is required. "US Person" includes a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.</p> <p>The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:</p> <p>Key Responsibilities & Focus Areas</p> <ul> <li>Design and develop high-performance sensors/harness to be used in the aerospace industry </li><li>Lead development phases and execution of engineering projects to meet Time, Cost, Budget, Performance, and DFMA-Q targets </li><li>Perform risk analysis and develop a mitigation plan for technical, schedule, and material aspects of the project. </li><li>Create 3D models, assembly drawings, BOM for sensors/harness components, tools, and fixtures </li><li>Perform FEA to estimate static stress, thermal analysis, resonance frequencies, etc., and validate the model against real-world data or theoretical calculations. </li><li>Prepare draft for Manufacturing Instructions for New Product Development projects to ensure DFMA-Q and ensure producibility by hands-on prototyping </li><li>Develop capabilities for manufacturing, assembling, and testing sensors/harness and perform Design Verification Testing. </li><li>Perform Reliability Analysis, Failure analysis and Problem solving to ensure reliable product development </li><li>Create and maintain appropriate projects documentation to meet internal and AS9100 requirements </li><li>Perform DFMEA and work with manufacturing engineering on PFMEA </li><li>Maintain appropriate project documentation per Quality Management System requirements. </li><li>Provide support to Chief Engineer with various aspect of project management like preparing projects proposals, assessing customer requirements, creating concept drawings, performing cost analysis, creating compliance matrix, etc. </li><li>Proactively interface with the cross-functional project team.. </li><li>Promptly address customer comments, open items and ensure timely completion. </li><li>Up to 10% travel (domestic and/or international) as necessary. </li><li>Performs other job-related activities, projects, or tasks as assigned by leadership with minimal supervision. </li></ul> <p>Experience & Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent Engineering discipline. </li></ul>
