<p>Inter-related Special Education Teacher</p> <p>Tonganoxie USD 464 • www.tong464.org</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Special Education Administrators</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Fulfill role of case manager for special education students with academic and behavioral disabilities</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the development of compliant individualized education plans (IEP)</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate IEP team meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate frequently and effectively with parents</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare lesson plans and provide direct special education services to students</p> </li><li> <p>Create a classroom environment that is positive and conducive to learning</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and implement behavior intervention plans that include positive behavior supports</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to receive and Implement trainingto prevent, de-escalate, and if necessary, intervenewhen student behavior poses a threat of harm to themselves and/or others.</p> </li><li> <p>Work collaboratively with general education teachers to meet the needs of special education students</p> </li><li> <p>Work collaboratively with other service providers</p> </li><li> <p>Assist general education teachers with curriculum modifications necessary to enable students to participate and make progress in the general education curriculum</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure the implementation of the IEP as written.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with evaluations of students in determining eligibility and need for special education students.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess students' progress on a regular basis and reports this progress as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise para-educators</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate as necessary with building and district administration</p> </li><li> <p>Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend all required staff meetings and professional development activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in the work environment.</p> <p>Job Category: Elementary School Teaching</p>
