<p>The Chatham County Detention Center immediately needs a Corrections Counselor I. If you have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field, plus one (1) year of counseling experience, consider applying.</p> <p>In this role, you </p> <ul> <li>Counsel inmates and document records according to the Standard Operating Procedures of the Chatham County Detention Center.  </li><li>Perform work that requires a great degree of confidentiality.  </li><li>Respond to detainee requests and staff referrals. </li><li>Maintain daily activity logs. </li><li>Present accurate and reliable monthly reports.  </li><li>Work with the unique problems of an inmate population to provide follow-up services and support, including addiction and recovery issues, multi-cultural awareness, and multi-group theories.  </li><li>Arrange for detainees to have contact with Parole, Probation, DFCS, Court Administrator, and other government agencies.  </li><li>Use your interpersonal skills to interact with difficult clients. </li><li>May encounter crises such as threats of suicide, homicide, and physical harm.  </li><li>Use your customer service skills as you answer inquiries from the public by phone and in person. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field; and  </li><li>At least one (1) year of counseling experience; or  </li><li>Any equivalent combination of training and experience.  </li></ul>
