<p>Engineering a world of possibilities</p> <p>The Mines Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Innovation Center (MCIC) is hiring a Project Manager to support this Center and the new CarbonSAFE Eos project.</p> <p>For MCIC, the Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating researchers within MCIC, developing and managing relationships with existing and potential sponsors of MCIC, including directing outreach activities, managing the budget, event organization, and website management. For CarbonSAFE Eos, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing funding and relationships with other CarbonSAFE project partners, including directing outreach activities, managing the $32 million+ budget, event organization, and website management for the Colorado School of Mines (Mines).</p> <p>This position will also ensure Department of Energy (DOE) as well as department and University policies and procedures are being followed and assist with report writing, including technical editing and formatting. The Project Manager will work closely with the MCIC and CarbonSAFE Principal Investigators (PI) and the project team members to ensure successful on-time and on-budget project completion.</p> <p>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Outreach and Communications (40% annually)</p> <ul> <li>Communicate project status to technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of the university, and with external organizations, as required </li><li>Ensure Project's website is accurate and up to date </li><li>Provide timely and consistent communication between all partners </li><li>Arrange (or organize) public outreach meetings </li><li>Provide technical editing and formatting of reports and other publications including press releases </li><li>Write, design, and distribute marketing and informational brochures, both in print and in electronic forms </li></ul> <p>Operations and Administrative Oversight (25% annually)</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for meeting arrangements between faculty, staff and students involved in MCIC, and with Mines faculty and MCIC sponsors </li><li>Responsible for maintaining communications with MCIC sponsors </li><li>Responsible for making travel and meeting arrangements for faculty, staff and students involved in CarbonSAFE </li><li>Ensure that all travel-related paperwork is completed in a timely, accurate manner </li><li>Help compile all project-related reports in a timely, accurate manner. </li><li>Allocate funds to participants and partner institutions </li><li>Lead team-wide risk management efforts to identify and address project risks, and mitigate negative impacts </li><li>Set up and facilitate any large project meetings/events </li></ul> <p>Contract Management and Report Management (25% annually)</p> <ul> <li>Provide guidance and coordination between Mines faculty, Office of Research Administration (ORA), Procurement, Human Resources and PIs to ensure compliance with sponsor requirements and Mines policies and procedures </li><li>Responsible for the preparation of required DOE reports including monitoring project status, initiation and term initiation/closeout, funding allocations, and reporting timetable </li><li>Review incoming contracts and invoices for charges and accuracy and seek input from CarbonSAFE PIs or ORA, as appropriate, regarding the applicability and suitability of the proposed changes </li></ul> <p>Fiscal Management (10% annually)</p> <ul> <li>Analyze, balance, and report on the CarbonSAFE account, totaling about $32 million in expenditures across 3 partner institutions </li><li>Provide multi-year budget projections and advise PIs on purchasing limits and available budget </li><li>Track expenditures of salary, equipment, travel, and fees; assign and reallocate charges </li><li>Track and document cost-share contributions and report to ORA </li><li>Monitor and compare expenditures to forecast future budgetary needs. Report results to PIs and team </li><li>Function as the primary delegate for routine research accounting, including billing for lab equipment use, procurements, travel, and other expenses. Coordinate with administrators and accountants in the Office of Research Administration and the Controller's Office to keep accounting/expensing up to date. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree with advanced learning attained through professional experience relevant to project and financial management </li><li>2 years of experience managing projects in the public, private, or nonprofit sector </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Understanding of project management principles, methods, and techniques </li><li>Knowledge of basic accounting and ability to learn new financial management systems </li><li>MS Office suite experience, especially Excel </li><li>Evidence of Project Management and event planning experience </li><li>Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Extensive experience coordinating research programs or similar activities involving partnership development and coordination </li><li>Experience with budget management and forecasting </li><li>Experience working with diverse technical teams on large-scale projects </li><li>Experience with federally-funded projects </li><li>Higher education experience </li><li>Experience maintaining and updating websites </li></ul> <p>Certifications and Licenses:</p> <ul> <li>Project Management Professional (PMP) </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of federal research funding agencies </li><li>Facility with efficient use of project management software tools (GanttPro, MS Project, Celoxis, or other) </li><li>Proficient grasp of the Spanish language </li></ul> <p>About Mines & Golden, CO</p> <p>When the world looks for answers, the world looks to Mines.</p> <p>Colorado School of Mines is a top-ranked public university solving the grand challenges facing our society, particularly those related to the Earth, energy and the environment.
