<p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li>Oversees the operations of the Police Department serving Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare. </li><li>Managing all law enforcement activities such as investigating unusual incidents, suspicious fires, and accidents. </li><li>Leads the department's response to emergencies, conducts investigations and reports on vehicular accidents on Hospital grounds, and oversees fire safety inspections. </li><li>Develops and updates procedures to enhance departmental efficiency, including investigative and arrest techniques, interview procedures, and reporting standards. </li><li>Formulates and enforces policies related to traffic control, parking regulations, contraband enforcement, and mandatory training programs. </li><li>Prepares and manages the department budget, approves expenditures, and represents the department in court proceedings as needed. </li><li>Cultivates positive relationships with other law enforcement agencies and the courts. </li><li>Conducts thorough investigations into criminal offenses and breaches of department protocols, including interviewing suspects and witnesses, scrutinizing relevant records and documentation, and apprehending and arresting offenders when necessary. </li><li>Provides testimony in court proceedings as required. </li><li>Actively participates in various committees such as the Risk Management Committee, Safety Committee, Environmental Committee, and Investigation Review Committee </li><li>Cultivates strong working relationships with department heads, administrative officials, law enforcement agencies, and the courts. </li><li>Remains updated on changes in laws and regulations pertinent to law enforcement. </li><li>Assesses environmental conditions, organizational policies and procedures, and the behavior of staff, patients, and visitors to identify potential risks to their safety, promptly reporting any concerns as necessary. </li></ul> <p>This is an hourly position and is exempt from the bargaining units, with a pay range of #13 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (Flexible Schedule).</p> <p>This position is located within our Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare Campus at 100 Hospital Drive, Athens, Ohio 45701.</p> <p>Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.</p> <p>Additional Salary / Appointment Information:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to complete a 4 week (business days Monday-Friday) full time orientation. </li><li>May work weekends and holidays; may be exposed to communicable diseases and unpredictable patient behavior. </li><li>Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment. </li></ul> <p>Required Educational Transcripts</p> <p>Official transcripts are required for all post-secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application. Failure to provide transcripts within five (5) business days of the request will result in disqualification from further consideration.
