<p>Job Description:</p> <p>BASIC FUNCTION:</p> <p>To ensure prompt and efficient delivery/service of university mail</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Pick up mail and parcels from the post office every morning. </li><li>Receive daily deliveries of parcels from United Parcel Service, Federal Express, Amazon, DHL, LS, Federal Express Ground, couriers and other deliveries including large items such as furniture and machinery. </li><li>Develop and maintain a good working relationship with all external delivery personnel and internal recipients. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality with students, faculty and staff. </li><li>Receive and deliver hazardous chemicals, photo chemicals, biological supplies and live specimens to secured storage areas. </li><li>Sort and package incoming mail and parcels as well as interoffice mail for distribution along two daily established delivery routes. </li><li>Assist in receiving, sorting and distributing student packages. </li><li>Meter daily outgoing mail using a Pitney Bowes mailing system and entering appropriate departmental charges into the accounting system </li><li>Prepare USPS, Fed Ex and international deliveries online </li><li>Provide the University community with a wide range of mailing options and current postal information </li><li>Collect stamped mail from on campus mailboxes </li><li>Deliver all metered and stamped mail, parcels and express mail to post office and drop boxes </li><li>Schedule and drop off bulk mailings during designated acceptance hours </li><li>Attend service window assisting with packaging, postage and stamp sales. </li><li>Report any issues with delivery vehicle to supervisor </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Scan mail and parcels for abnormal appearance or odor and handle according to the University emergency procedures </li><li>Program and operate folding and inserting machine to prepare bills, correspondence and mass mailings </li><li>Pick up monthly postal supply order </li><li>Inventory, order and pick up postal supplies </li><li>May be required to work during certain campus closings (inclement weather and holiday breaks) </li><li>Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Mail Services Supervisor </li></ul> <p>LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Valid driver's license required. </li><li>Must attend suspicious and hazardous mail training </li></ul> <p>ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:</p> <p>This position is subject to outside work where extreme cold and hot temperatures may be encountered</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Required:</p> <p>A high school diploma or GED is required. Must be computer literate. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a traditional college-aged student population as well as staff and faculty members.
