This role is designed to provide intensive and targeted support for at-risk students in partnership with Student Support Specialists, building administrators, families, and students.</p> <p>PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's or Bachelor's degree in social work, education, psychology, or related field (preferred). </li><li>Experience working with K-12 students and families, preferably in an educational or community outreach setting </li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders in a team-based environment </li><li>Knowledge of Michigan compulsory attendance laws and the Section 31a At-Risk Program in preferred </li><li>Bilingual abilities are preferred </li></ul> <p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Monitor daily attendance data for all schools, identify patterns of absenteeism, and generate reports to inform interventions. </li><li>Collaborate with Student Support Specialists to implement wraparound supports for chronically absent students. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between school staff, students, parents, and community agencies to promote consistent attendance and address barriers. </li><li>Communicate with our contracted agency who conducts home visits when appropriate to re-engage students and families. </li><li>Participate in multi-tiered support team (MTSS) meetings and contribute to individualized attendance action plans. </li><li>Educate families and students on the importance of regular school attendance and legal requirements under state law. </li><li>Conduct student and parent meetings around attendance concerns. </li><li>Maintain detailed documentation of interventions, outcomes, and communications for 31a reporting and compliance purposes. </li><li>Assist in developing and implementing district-wide initiatives, campaigns, and events to improve attendance culture. </li><li>Analyze attendance data disaggregated by subgroup (e.g., grade level, special education status, economic disadvantage, etc.) to identify trends and disparities. </li><li>Support building teams in using attendance data to develop school-specific strategies aligned with district and state goals. </li><li>Develop and maintain trusting relationships with families and serve as a consistent point of contact for attendance-related concerns. </li><li>Facilitate attendance success plans for students with chronic absenteeism, involving students, families, and staff. </li><li>Coordinate and host family engagement events, such as attendance awareness nights or workshops on parenting strategies, sleep routines, and school readiness. </li><li>Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and behavior interventionists to address root causes of absenteeism (e.g., transportation issues, mental health, housing instability). </li><li>Connect families to external community resources, such as transportation assistance, housing support, or health services. </li><li>Track and follow-up on student reentry after prolonged absences or suspensions to ensure smooth reintegration </li><li>Support staff professional development by offering training or guidance on attendance best practices and student engagement strategies. </li><li>Develop and support positive attendance incentive programs (monthly rewards, recognition systems, classroom competitions). </li><li>Collaborate on restorative practices to repair relationships and re engage students who have been disconnected from school. </li><li>Other duties as assigned that pertain to the reduction of chronic absenteeism </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Must be eligible to work in the United States </li><li>Must follow directions and ideas and implement plans as outlined by Coach, classroom Teacher and Principal </li><li>Must have good organizational skills </li><li>Must keep accurate documentation as required </li><li>Good interpersonal skills with children, parents and staff </li><li>Ability to operate computers and related software </li><li>Must be flexible </li><li>Must be self-directed </li><li>Must have regular punctual attendance </li><li>Must maintain confidentiality </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully
