<p>HPL - Part Time Library Clerk</p> <p>Part-time</p> <p>| Salary to be discussed with applicant</p> <p>Department: Hendersonville Public Library</p> <p>Under the direction of the operations manager, the circulation clerk is responsible for providing access to library</p> <p>materials and services in a professional and friendly manner by a variety of reference, circulation, and clerical</p> <p>functions.</p> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Be present and visible; provide excellent customer service support to patrons. </li><li>Maintain an attractive, neat, clean, and welcoming service area. </li><li>Communicate hold arrivals to patrons. </li><li>Respond to a variety of questions and needs from patrons related to the library. </li><li>Charge and discharge library materials. </li><li>Assist patrons in opening library cards. </li><li>Assist patrons with online and catalog services. </li><li>Assist in shelving and straightening materials. </li><li>Ensure patrons' accounts are confidential. </li><li>Collaborate with all managers to assure quality library service to all patrons. </li><li>Work other areas of the library as needed and willingly perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Requirements:</p> <p>Part-time employees must work 29 hours a week to maintain part-time status. However, part-time employees cannot exceed 29 hours a week. After 6 hours of working, a 30-minute unpaid lunch is required. Employees must be able to open and close 2 days a week; evenings and weekends are required on a rotating schedule.</p> <ul> <li>A high school diploma is required. Library experience is a plus! </li><li>A strong background in computers/technology, with a basic knowledge of Google Suite and social media </li></ul> <p>platforms.</p> <ul> <li>The employee will operate a variety of office equipment that includes telephone, computer, p1inter, scanner, </li></ul> <p>and light audio/visual equipment.</p> <ul> <li>Exudes a warm, outgoing personality. </li><li>Enjoys learning. </li><li>Displays positivity and flexibility. </li><li>Displays poise in a busy setting, serving patrons with patience and tact. </li><li>Ability to exhibit good judgment and establish effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, and </li></ul> <p>government personnel.</p> <p>Knowledge and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to exercise and maintain professionalism, especially in uncomfortable situations. </li><li>Ability to take initiative and interest in order to improve existing work techniques and procedures. </li><li>Ability to demonstrate a willingness to help the team, even when tasks are beyond the scope of regularly </li></ul> <p>assigned duties.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to pay attention to details. </li><li>Ability to speak effectively to the patrons in the community. </li><li>Demonstrates strong organizational and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to troubleshoot effectively. </li><li>Possesses strong analytical, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills, as well as the ability </li></ul> <p>to anticipate future needs.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to maintain cooperative and courteous working relationships with peers, supervisors, and the public. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to walk easily through the facility and assist patrons. </li><li>Ability to move up to 50 pounds (carts) and handle heavy boxes when occasions require. </li><li>Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk , push, pull, lift, and perform repetitive </li></ul> <p>motions.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. </li><li>Ability to handle books, materials, and equipment. </li></ul> <p>Note: All employees will be expected to perform other duties as assigned.</p> <p>All applications may be obtained from the Sumner County website at www.sumnercountytn.gov.
