Our expanding facility in Greenfield, Indiana, specializes in custom automation engineering and manufacturing, enhancing our customers' efficiency with tailored material-handling equipment.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to design equipment integrated into distribution, production, and material-handling systems. </li><li>Translate customer goals and operational requirements into engineered solutions. </li><li>Support multiple phases of engineering projects, occasionally across several concurrent initiatives. </li><li>Develop 3D models and detailed engineering drawings for custom equipment and system components. </li><li>Perform hand calculations and engineering analyses to validate design integrity and performance. </li><li>Create and maintain project documentation, including product specifications, testing procedures, and technical reports. </li><li>Participate in cross-functional design reviews and collaborate with larger engineering teams. </li><li>Estimate engineering effort required for assigned tasks and manage workload to meet project deadlines. </li><li>Troubleshoot design challenges and propose solutions with increasing autonomy. </li><li>Support prototype builds, testing, and design iterations as needed. </li><li>Communicate effectively with procurement, project managers, manufacturing teams, and external partners to ensure design intent is met. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline. </li><li>8-18 years of experience in machine or automation equipment engineering. </li><li>8+ years of 3D Modeling Design experience, particularly with materials like steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and sheet metal. </li><li>Proficiency in Solidworks or similar software. </li><li>Experience in stress analysis and GD&T. </li><li>8+ years of 2D Drafting experience. </li><li>Knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and DFMEA. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Machine design experience. </li><li>Solidworks Certification. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This is an onsite, first-shift position from Monday to Friday. The role typically requires presence in the office between 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM ET, with an end time at 5:00 PM ET. There is remote flexibility for life events post-training period. The position involves approximately 80% desk work and 20% shop floor role, troubleshooting equipment and machines. The work environment is casual, and employees often wear jeans. The team is growing, with a current headcount of 7 design engineers onsite, aiming to expand to 14.
