<p>Responsibilities for this Position</p> <p>Outside Electrician Instructor</p> <p>US-CT-Groton</p> <p>Job ID: 2026-18917</p> <p>Type: Full-Time</p> <p># of Openings: 1</p> <p>Category: Human Resources</p> <p>EB Groton Shipyard</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The primary duties of this position entail:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Qualify as a Trade Training Instructor.</p> </li><li> <p>Qualify and maintain all applicable non-nuclear OSE qualifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Onboarding New Hire Electricians.</p> </li><li> <p>Instructing multiple Electrical Trade courses in a classroom setting</p> </li><li> <p>Electrostatic discharge, F-18 Non-Shipboard Electrical etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Instructing multiple General Trades classroom courses</p> </li><li> <p>Fall Protection, Fire Watch, Respirator, Tank Watch etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Enforcing safety rules and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Supporting various lesson plan updates and related activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Assessing student performance and identifying noncompliance to policies, procedures and technique sheets.</p> </li><li> <p>Supporting special training projects as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Being available for overtime as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Being flexible to support training on all shifts as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct deck plate observations.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommend changes to improve areas of safety, quality, cost, schedule, and continuous improvement.</p> </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to speak in front of large groups of people. </li><li>Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. </li><li>Ability to embrace change and new ideas. </li><li>Strong organization skills. </li><li>Maintain a strong work ethic. </li><li>Be a dedicated team player. </li><li>Must have a strong history of procedural compliance and safe work practices. </li><li>Must be comfortable speaking in front of a large groups and be able to maintain control of a classroom. </li><li>Must be comfortable assigning students training tasks and enforcing policies and procedures. </li><li>Must be comfortable evaluating student progress. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma/GED </li><li>Must have background with OSE, NTO-E or STO-E test electrician. Previous work experience may be accepted in lieu of an electric boat electrician qualification </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Previous Shipyard experience </li><li>Prior classroom/OTJ or ALC Instructor experience </li><li>Certificate, Associates or advanced degree </li><li>Experience in preparation of training materials </li><li>Experience with classroom lectures, hands-on training and associated written and practical exams </li></ul>
