<p>Performs responsible technical work in support of a variety of Social Services information</p> <p>technology systems including specialized and general software, hardware and applications;</p> <p>provides user training and assists in purchasing recommendations.</p> <p>An employee in this class works closely with staff in Social Services to analyze software</p> <p>and hardware problems, troubleshoot issues, maintain systems and train users. Tasks revolve</p> <p>around providing technical customer assistance, often with assigned work orders, and include</p> <p>some or all of a variety of specialized departmental software and general use software programs</p> <p>and related databases; troubleshooting issues with copiers, printers, scanners, desktops; some</p> <p>network connectivity; performing software and equipment upgrades; contacting vendors,</p> <p>determining specifications and recommending desktop purchasing decisions; replacing</p> <p>computers; assisting in the support of the Social Services phone system; configuring email;</p> <p>providing training one on one and for groups on software use; serving as database administrator</p> <p>for assigned systems; and assisting in projects like installing cable and network connections and</p> <p>loading software. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through</p> <p>observation and the quality and effectiveness of the work.</p> <p>Serves as the Social Services security officer administering network users and securing</p> <p>permissions for multiple state computer systems, engaging with DHHS as the agency's "Security</p> <p>Officer" and "troubleshooter" regarding a variety of state systems. Requests, grants, resets and/or</p> <p>revokes security clearance to state computer systems for all staff via the State's E-IRAAF process.</p> <p>Responsible for Annual and Semi-Annual reviews and inspections, as required to ensure</p> <p>the department is in compliance with all state technology requirements.</p> <p>Trains employees on state or agency software and hardware use.</p> <p>Responsible for the management of the department is computer equipment rotation, creating and</p> <p>maintaining reports, annual and semi-annual security reviews and inspections</p> <p>(SSA/SOLQ, FRR/BEER, etc.), maintaining security files on all employees, monthly reviewing and</p> <p>documenting changes to the Remote Access Control Facility (RACF) and Online Verification (OLV)</p> <p>reports, reviewing and documenting changes to the Monthly NC FAST Access Control Report and</p> <p>submitting reports to the State's NC FAST security team, serves as the NCID Administrator, and NC</p> <p>FAST Technical Champion for the agency.</p> <p>Responsible for creating forms and reports; assisting with database and spreadsheet</p> <p>design.</p> <p>Required to serve during disasters, and/or shelter duty.</p> <p>Additional Job Duties</p> <p>Provide backup support as needed.</p> <p>Perform other duties as required.</p> <p>Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of computers and related peripheral equipment and</p> <p>information technology.</p> <p>Knowledge of the principles and methods used in obtaining maximum utilization of</p> <p>computing equipment.</p> <p>General knowledge of the particular office or business functions supported.</p> <p>Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.</p> <p>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.</p> <p>Desirable Education and Experience</p> <p>Graduation from college with a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and</p> <p>experience in troubleshooting and maintaining technology systems; or an equivalent combination</p> <p>of training and experience.</p> <p>Special Requirement</p> <p>Possession of NC driver's license.</p> <p>Some positions may require other certifications and specialized training within timeframes</p> <p>specified by Social Service or MIS.</p>
