<p>Position Information</p> <p>Posting Number CS00606 Position Title Electrician Division Administration and Finance Division Department Name Maintenance and Repairs Position Type Staff - Classified General Statement of Duties</p> <p>To install, inspect, maintain, alter and repair electrical lines, equipment and apparatus; and to do related work as required.</p> <p>Supervision Received</p> <p>Receives work assignments from a superior with considerable latitude for the use of independent judgement in the application of the practices and techniques of the trade; work is reviewed usually upon completion for satisfactory performance.</p> <p>Supervision Exercised</p> <p>As required, supervises the work of helpers or others assigned to assist.</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>The Department of Facilities & Operations is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the physical aspects of the Rhode Island College multi-building campus including contractor administration and the Central Falls Hub.</p> <p>Illustrative Examples of Work Performed</p> <p>To install, inspect, maintain, alter and repair electric wires and cables (including those carrying high voltages), power appliances, machinery, overhead circuits, underground conduits and pole lines.</p> <p>To install, inspect and repair special medical equipment such as X-ray and physiotherapy equipment.</p> <p>To install, inspect, regulate and repair all types of electrical traffic control signals.</p> <p>At a state institution, to repair and maintain various types of electrical equipment, such as refrigerators, stoves, elevators and dairy and laundry machinery.</p> <p>As assigned, to install, operate, maintain and repair various electrical equipment and apparatus at the Veterans' Memorial Building or any other state facility involving stage or theatrical presentations including lighting control and lighting contact boards, public address systems and thermostatically controlled heating and ventilating units.</p> <p>To inspect, make minor repairs to, clean and oil motors and generators.</p> <p>To install, inspect and maintain communication, signaling and other electronic systems.</p> <p>To regulate and repair electric master and secondary clocks.</p> <p>To do related work as required.</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Such as may have been gained through: completion of ten school grades; and</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Such as may have been gained through: employment as a journeyman electrician.</p> <p>Or Combination of Education and Experience</p> <p>Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.</p> <p>Additional Required Qualifications</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must possess a journeyman electrician's license issued by the Rhode Island State Board of Examiners of Electricians and must maintain such licensure as a condition of employment.</p> <p>Knowledges Skills and Capacities</p> <p>A thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques, tools, equipment and materials used in the electrician trade and skill in their application; a working knowledge of safety codes enforced by the State; the ability to read and work from electrical wiring diagrams and blueprints; the ability to handle high voltage wires; the ability to understand and to follow oral and written directions; and related capacities and abilities.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>NA</p> <p>FLSA Non-Exempt Full Time / Part Time Full-time Work Schedule</p> <p>40 hours/week</p> <p>Monday through Friday</p> <p>7:00AM - 3:30PM</p> <p>Benefits Reports To (Title) Associate Director of Facilities & Operations, Maintenance & Repairs Academic or Calendar Year Calendar Position Status Permanent - C End of Restricted or Limited Position Civil Service List</p> <p>Position Details</p> <p>Salary Grade 316CH Minimum Salary for Grade 23.09 Maximum salary for grade 24.11 Added Salary For this Position $9.00/hr Trade Wage Stipend Collective Bargaining Unit Council 94 Local 2878</p> <p>Posting Information</p> <p>Number of Positions Available 1 Anticipated Start Date 12/11/2025 Application Open Date Application Close Date Special Instructions</p> <p>At time of appointment, applicant must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties as evidenced by a physician's certificate.</p> <p>Upon hire, candidate may be required to arrange for an official transcript of highest degree earned to be mailed/transmitted directly from the institution to RIC.</p> <p>AA/EEO/ADA Statement</p> <p>As an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity institution that values and is committed to inclusion and expanding the diversity of its faculty and staff, the College invites members of protected classes, including minorities and persons with disabilities, to identify themselves as such at the time of application.</p>
