<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Communication Program at the University of Louisiana Monroe currently offers a B.A. with three concentrations (Communication Studies, Film & Media Arts, and Integrated Media) and a M.A. in Strategic Communication. We seek applications for a full-time, 9-month, Assistant Professor of Communication with a strong understanding of the Communication discipline, and the ability to teach primarily in the Communication Studies concentration. The successful candidate will teach a number of different courses, such as Communication & Gender, Small Group Communication, Intercultural Communication, and Criticism of Contemporary Communication, and should have specialized knowledge in writing and presenting in a variety of settings. The successful candidate may also be responsible for teaching several Communication core courses on a rotating basis; these include Public Speaking, Fundamentals of Communication & Interpersonal Communication. The position requires teaching four classes per semester, providing service to the institution, and engaging in scholarly research and/or creative work.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Teach four courses per semester, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, including courses such as Communication & Gender, Small Group Communication, Intercultural Communication, and Criticism of Contemporary Communication. </li><li>Teach in multiple formats including face-to-face, hybrid, and online </li><li>Regularly assess courses as determined by program assessment plan and SACSCOC </li><li>Advise undergraduate and graduate students </li><li>Advise student organizations </li><li>Actively participate in student recruitment </li><li>Serve on committees and provide other needed service to the institution </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ph.D. in Communication or related field </li><li>Statement of teaching philosophy </li><li>Evidence of teaching effectiveness and an active research agenda </li><li>A strong understanding of the academic environment, particularly support of assessment practices, faculty collaboration, and program alignment with university strategic initiatives </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>none</p>
