<p>Category Administration Description</p> <p>Position Title:</p> <p>Director of Nursing - Alpena Campus</p> <p>Reports To:</p> <p>Vice President of Instruction</p> <p>Position Status:</p> <p>Full-time, Exempt, 12 months per year, General Fund</p> <p>Classification/Points:</p> <p>Administrative, Level C</p> <p>Bargaining Unit/Division:</p> <p>None</p> <p>Position Description:</p> <p>Provides leadership and supervision for all Health and Human Services instructional programs which include Pre-Nursing, Licensed Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, Human Services, and new Health Occupational Programs to be considered. Responsible for curriculum development, program evaluation, grant supervision, budget planning and monitoring, faculty recruitment, supervision, and evaluation. Position also includes the ability to teach when needed.</p> <p>Position Responsibilities:</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Teach as needed in the Licensed Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing Programs. (This is part of normal salary and does not receive additional load payments).</p> </li><li> <p>Plan and administer all health occupations programs and courses in accordance with institutional, Michigan Board of Nursing, ACEN and Department of Public Health requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Direct and coordinate the student selection process for admission to all Nursing programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate student clinical experience in affiliating agencies with emphasis on rotation plan, contractual agreement, and student policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain student informational data to verify eligibility to write Michigan State Board examinations.</p> </li><li> <p>Recruit part-time and substitute instructors for all credit and possible non-credit courses and recommend employment of instructors.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise full-time and part-time faculty (as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction) to include:</p> </li><li> <p>Instruct newly employed, full- and part-time and substitute instructors in their teaching duties and offer guidance for the improvement of instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Encourage instructors to attend professional conferences in nursing and report the proceedings to nursing members.</p> </li><li> <p>Assume responsibility for calling meetings of nursing instructors with a minimum of three meetings per semester.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that standards are set and maintained for course objectives, course content, examinations, and grading practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct clinical site visits for all faculty, once per rotation.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for the organization and implementation of appropriate in-service faculty training programs including adjunct faculty orientation.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct the program-required evaluation on full- and part-time instructors.</p> </li><li> <p>Direct curriculum development and evaluation to include:</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate the development of new courses and programs with Nursing faculty, including catalog descriptions, prerequisites, and course outlines, conduct an annual review of nursing department offerings and prepare necessary evaluations of the program with recommendations for changes and deletions.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain approval from ACEN and the Michigan Board of Nursing (MBON) for major nursing curriculum changes.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate and disseminate the occupational program review process and the MBON program review.</p> </li><li> <p>Become an active member and participate in the Michigan Council of Nursing Education Administrators (MCNEA).</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for assuring that student learning outcomes are clearly defined and addressed for all nursing courses.</p> </li><li> <p>Review course offerings and programs at other institutions and, in cooperation with the administration, participate in articulation with these institutions. Advise and assist administration so as to improve placement opportunities for students.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommend books and other library materials for purchase.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with Advisory Committees and Vice President of Instruction in program development. Plan and host a yearly advisory committee meeting for both campuses.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and manage program budgets.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate clinical training sites used by students.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise and direct the Simulation Lab Manager.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare the Annual Schedule of Courses to include:</p> </li><li> <p>Recommending to the Vice President of Instruction for Fall, Spring, and Summer session schedule of classes.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommending to the Vice President of Instruction teaching assignments and section sizes.</p> </li><li> <p>Guidance Services:</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the development of testing and screening procedures for placement of students in the nursing program.</p> </li><li> <p>Public Relations:</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that nursing is represented as needed in the college and the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with community agencies to promote Nursing, Allied Health, and Human Services programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Presence on the job is an employee's fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction.</p> </li></ul> <p>Position Requirements</p> <p>Position Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Nursing required. </li><li>Unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in Michigan required. </li><li>A minimum of three (3) years' full-time work experience as a Registered Nurse required. </li><li>Experience in nursing supervision/management preferred. </li><li>Teaching experience in nursing instruction preferred. </li></ul> <p>Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Shift Days Close Date 6/19/2025 Open Date 5/19/2025 Location Alpena Community College - Alpena Campus About the Organization Alpena Community College is located in Northeast Michigan on the beautiful shoreline of Lake Huron.
