<p>General Job Information</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>This position is located in the D.C. Department of Corrections, (DOC) Case Management Division (EPCM) Department. This position serves as the Supervisory Correctional Treatment Specialist (Chief of Case Management Program) at the Central Detention Facility. The Case Management program is charged with the direction of casework services in the treatment of inmates. The case management program is charged with the direction of case work services in the treatment of inmates.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Oversees and administers the methods, techniques, principles, and concepts of inmate classification and rehabilitation; supervises specialist (caseworkers) and plans and assigns caseloads of inmates on a continuing basis; oversees the process of inmate intake, housing and rehabilitative programs based on risk/need assessments; and provides services for pretrial detainees, misdemeanants, felons, to include un-sentenced offenders. Confers with specialist (caseworkers) on critical/complex cases and recommendations for action(s) involving formulation of rehabilitation and treatment for offenders, including conditional release and education and employment stipulations or discusses alternative options when needed.</p> <p>Occasionally reviews offender's evaluations to determine the best course of action, practice and/or treatment offered appropriate based on discovery facts for rehabilitation, probation, release, education, etc.; while assuring the appropriate aid and ensuring the effective delivery of case management services that meet or exceed established standards based on availability of resources. Participates in the establishment of case management standards, and upon request, conducts of participated in classes, seminars involving professional development, social work standards and current methods and practices in correctional social work.</p> <p>Qualifications and Education</p> <p>Successful completion of at least 24 semester hours of coursework in the behavioral or social sciences.</p> <p>Or</p> <p>Combination of education and experience that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences, and that provided applicants with knowledge of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a 4-year degree.</p> <p>Or</p> <p>Specialized experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled. To be creditable, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the line of progression.</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <p>None</p> <p>Working Conditions/Environment</p> <p>Work is performed in a Correctional Institution.</p> <p>Other Significant Facts</p> <p>Tour of Duty: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm - Flexibility in work schedule may be required. Twenty-four (24) seven (7) day response and /or return to duty may be required.</p> <p>Pay Plan, Series and Grade: MSS-101-13</p> <p>Promotion Potential: No Known Promotion Potential.</p> <p>Duration of Appointment: At-will employment. All positions and appointments in the MSS serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.</p> <p>MSS At-Will Statement: Positions in the Management Supervisory Service (MSS) serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.</p> <p>Collective Bargaining: This position is not covered under a collective bargaining agreement.</p> <p>Position Designation: The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to chapter 4 of the DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability-Safety Sensitive.</p> <p>TB test will be required prior to entry on duty.</p> <p>Essential Position Designation: This position has been designated as Essential employee position under the provisions of District Personnel Manual, Chapter 12. As such, individuals in this position may be required in emergency situations to perform crucial duties that are vital to the continuity of medical facilities, public safety, emergency services, and/or other crucial operations. These duties may be performed when the government is closed or when most employees are dismissed early. Employees designated as essential shall be required to be at work regardless of the emergency situation declared.</p> <p>Residency Preference: When claiming residency preference, you are required, and must agree in writing, to maintain bona fide District residency for a period of seven (7) consecutive years from the effective date of employment.
