<p>Alta Equipment Company is a leading provider of construction equipment. We are committed to delivering top-notch solutions and support to our customers and maintaining a dynamic and supportive work environment for our employees.</p> <p>Our Construction Equipment Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team at the Berlin, CT branch. This hybrid position involves both shop and field work, providing a diverse and engaging work experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy-duty equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and trucks. </li><li>Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and implement effective solutions. </li><li>Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan. </li><li>Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections. </li><li>Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times. </li><li>Travel to field sites as needed to provide on-site support and repairs. </li><li>Upkeep of the service truck </li><li>Responsible for the inventory of onboard parts </li><li>Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned </li><li>Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in heavy-duty equipment mechanics preferred. </li><li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair. </li><li>Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. </li><li>Possess own tools </li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Valid driver's license and clean driving record. </li><li>Willingness to travel to field sites as required. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands/Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands; Frequently will talk/hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; Occasionally will sit. </li><li>Lift and/or Move Functions: Regularly will lift up to 25 pounds; Frequently will lift 26 to 50 pounds; Occasionally will lift from 51 to 100 plus pounds. </li><li>Work Environment: Regularly will work near moving mechanical parts; Frequently will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions; Occasionally will work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, vibration. </li></ul>
