<p>Custodian--Wilson Hill Elementary</p> <p>One full-time Custodian to work 8hrs per day, from 1:45pm-10:15pm, Monday through Friday on a 261 day calendar. Responsible for performing routine cleaning, maintenance, and operation tasks in and around a school building.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Dust mops floors in classrooms, hallways, locker rooms, auditorium, and stairs </li><li>Sweeps, mops, and scrubs restrooms, sinks, toilets, partitions, and mirrors </li><li>Sweeps stairs, hallways, gyms, and classrooms </li><li>Lifts heavy objects; i.e., garbage cans, mop buckets and ringers, containers of wax and chemicals, boxes, cleaning equipment, and paper products </li><li>Vacuums carpeted floors </li><li>Applies wax to floors and buffs floors </li><li>Strips wax from floors </li><li>Empties trash receptacles </li><li>Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies </li><li>Sets and de-arms security system </li><li>Sweeps and shovels snow and de-ices steps and entrance ways </li><li>Changes ballasts on florescent light fixtures; changes light bulbs </li><li>Changes batteries and lightbulbs on emergency exit lights </li><li>Climbs ladders and adjusts ladders to replace lightbulbs and to clean light fixtures </li><li>Reports and cleans up damage from vandalism </li><li>Observes and assists students in halls or areas in which the custodian is working </li><li>Informs day or head custodian orally or in writing of problems that are encountered </li><li>Sets up for meetings </li><li>Performs minor maintenance tasks </li></ul> <p>Job Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of methods used in custodial work </li><li>Knowledge of equipment used in custodial work </li><li>Knowledge of various cleaning solutions </li><li>Knowledge of mechanical and safety shut-offs </li><li>Some knowledge of the proper use of fire extinguishers </li><li>Some knowledge of tile floors </li><li>Some knowledge of work safety </li><li>Ability to read and write </li><li>Ability to use minor hand and power tools </li><li>Ability to operate heavy duty industrial size buffers </li><li>Ability to perform heavy physical labor (for example: lifts heavy objects, bend, twist, climb ladders, lift arms above head, etc.) </li><li>Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and the public </li><li>Ability to use technology to complete daily and assigned tasks appropriate for the position </li><li>Salary Range $22.72/hr to $28.83/hr* </li></ul>
