<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Ledyard High School is seeking a Technical Education teacher, specializing in Metals and Power Mechanics, beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the successful candidate will develop students' skills and competence in technical education, cultivating independent critical thinking and problem-solving. This opening is to fill an anticipated vacancy.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Appropriate CT teaching certification in Technical Education (047) </li><li>Familiarity with essential curricular content, including basic sheet metal work, introductory machining, aluminum sand casting, introductory welding, and small engine repair </li><li>Ability to articulate and adhere to all shop safety requirements </li><li>Understanding of the developmental needs of young adolescents </li><li>Enthusiasm for teaching and learning and the promotion of a positive learning environment that is responsive to and respectful of the needs of students </li><li>Ability to work cooperatively with fellow teachers, support personnel, and administrators </li><li>Understanding of best practices in terms of planning, instruction, and assessment in secondary technical education </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in technical education </li><li>Promote critical and creative thinking, problem solving, and analysis in all related subject areas </li><li>Plan, organize, and coordinate work </li><li>Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement </li><li>Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies </li><li>Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth </li><li>Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff </li><li>Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>Salary and Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Per the Ledyard Education Association agreement </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to manage prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer as well as walking, standing, and squatting to teach </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times </li><li>Must be able to safely and correctly operate machinery and tools in a shop setting </li><li>Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Applications will only be accepted online.
