<p>Description</p> <p>The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Design & Construction Project Manager II in the Capital Planning Development Division. The work has significant impact to the life and well-being of Prince George's County residents, implementing new and modernized park, trail, rehabilitation of historic buildings and recreational amenities across the County. We are looking for professionals that will bring passion and technical expertise to improve, add value, and develop solutions to complete design and construction projects.</p> <p>The Project Manager II will act as the project manager for the life of assigned projects, including planning, design, and construction administration for multiple projects. The successful candidate will apply problem solving skills to provide coordination and direction for assigned projects.</p> <p>We are looking for a Project Manager to lead work on critical projects including the design and construction of new community centers, restoration of historic buildings, ADA coordination, aquatic facilities, and more.</p> <p>Examples of Important Duties</p> <p>Under direction:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Manages capital improvement projects across the continuum of planning, design (design development, contract documentation and cost estimating) and construction. May also lead a specialized work portfolio of smaller projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Proactively prepares, plans and tracks project schedules and budgets, identifies deficiencies at early stages prior to adverse impacts and significant delays to projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Writes complete and clear scopes of work for professional services needed during a project. Reviews proposals and recommends contract awards.</p> </li><li> <p>Manages and coordinates professional services and vendors across varied disciplines to complete assigned projects. Coordinates work to complete projects</p> </li></ol> <p>on schedule.</p> <ol start="5"> <li> <p>Engages internal and external stakeholders throughout the project to inform, guide and advise on project scope, goals, requirements, milestones and deliverables.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors completion of assignments at each stage of project for timeliness, accuracy and effectiveness. This may include ensuring required approvals, permits</p> </li></ol> <p>and inspections at appropriate time frames to keep projects on schedule and avoid project delays.</p> <ol start="7"> <li>Effectively and professionally communicates and reports on project status for internal and stakeholders. Initiates and conducts effective progress meetings at </li></ol> <p>regular intervals during design and/or construction including preparation of agendas and meeting minutes.</p> <ol start="8"> <li>Reviews all project work products for thoroughness, accuracy, practicality, economy, compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and conformance </li></ol> <p>with sound design and construction practices. Reviews preliminary design plans, written reports, construction drawings, specifications, computations, cost</p> <p>estimates, bid forms, submittals and shop drawings for quality assurance, and provides input at appropriate stages.</p> <ol start="9"> <li> <p>Reviews progress of construction work at regular intervals to ensure park/space/facility is constructed according to the contract documents.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains records and files; prepares regular reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides technical support to other projects within the Commission.</p> </li></ol> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications (MQs):</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or any related field. </li><li>Four years of progressively responsible designer and/or construction experience that includes substantive work in the range of duties and responsibilities in this class specification. </li><li>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 8 years. </li><li>Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required by the position of assignment. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Professional Licenses and/or certifications preferred in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Project Management or similar.</p> <p>Experience in public and/or recreation projects (community centers, aquatic facilities, historic properties).</p> <p>Skilled in effective oral and written communications.</p> <p>Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with business contacts in a professional manner; this includes skill in establishing and maintaining</p> <p>effective working relationships with Commission state, federal, state and local agencies, vendors, professional consultants, contractors and the public.</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <p>Skill in using design and construction management methods and techniques to manage a full range of projects.</p> <p>Construction practices and the characteristics and uses of construction and building materials including state-of-the-art technology and materials.</p> <p>County, State of Maryland, and Federal Codes, industry standards and other guidelines affecting space/facility design and construction such as County soil erosion, sediment control, stormwater management and forest conservation requirements, building code use and occupancy requirements, ADA, fire protection and historic preservation requirements.</p> <p>Experience with construction project management information software, such as e-Builder.</p> <p>Skill in design software, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), BIM and Sketchup.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Class/Specification: Design and Construction Project Manager II</p> <p>May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.</p> <p>The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
